I bought a ticket this morning to the St. Louis show. Something in my gut tells me I need to be there for the first show of this tour. I’ll be going solo but the opportunity to have a floor seat right beside the end of the catwalk on the B side was something I just couldn’t pass up smiling bouncing smiley

Cheers, Mr.DDDDsmileys with beer

Any plans for a pre-show drink before? I’ll be staying at the Marriott that’s close to the dome. I’ve never been to St. Louis and don’t know anything about the area.

Taste of St. Louis is going on 24th, 25th, and 26th as well in Ball Park Village. Should have plenty of food and drink options that Sunday.

St. Louis really doesn't have a very vibrant downtown but there are a number of bars and restaurants on Washington Avenue just west of your hotel. Over/Under (sports bar) has a nice patio, would be a good place for drinks. Rosalitas too which
has some good Mexican food as well.

Not the safest city especially late at night, just keep in groups during the day, Ballpark Village isn't too far (maybe 5 blocks?) where someone pointed out Taste of St. Louis taking place. Good opportunity to try some of our unique foods (gooey butter cake, toasted ravioli, pork steaks, etc.) and good BBQ and Italian dishes. There's also a bar there with just about every Anheuser Busch product made.

I take it you're a local to St Louis. I've read differing things on the question of safety/crime. I'm staying at the Casino Queen hotel just across the Eads bridge from the venue and figured I would just walk to and from the stadium. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I booked Days Inn by Wyndham Downtown St. Louis, St. Louis. It was at a good price. What is everybody's opinion of the hotel & the proximity to the Dome. First time in St Louis. Going with my buddy.

Nice! That looks like a cool place to stay. I’m flying in from Birmingham early the morning of the show and will have all day to kill since I have a seat and won’t be lining up early for GA entry.

How early should I line up for GA? Never done GA at a Stones show. Really hoping to score an upgrade if they're still doing that. For anyone that's got an upgrade to the pit, when did they hand out the upgrade wristbands? Was it shortly after the doors opened or later? Who should I keep an eye out for? Sorry for all the questions. Just don't want to miss our chance if they happen to do that.

I hope you're joking. You might be safer going to the Kabul airport and trying to escape the Taliban.

Not a good area. Avoid anything north of the dome.

I hate to sound so negative about St. Louis, I've spent my entire life here and love what it has to offer (our zoo is top notch Forest Park is beautiful, our botanical gardens are very nice, and it was a lifelong dream seeing the Blues win the Stanley Cup), but downtown has really taken a turn for the worse lately, there are certain areas to avoid at all costs, and East St. Louis is one of the worst places in the entire country which explains my reply to the person staying at the Casino Queen. The casino and hotel might be fine but walking off the premises is taking your life in your hands. North St. Louis isn't much better. It's like the wild west late at night into the early morning, car chases, cars racing, gun shots.

The hotels at the casino on Lacledes Landing on the West side of the river are nice and may be a safe walk in groups. Plus there's some nearby eating and drinking establishments near that casino.

I am staying at the Marriott Grand -- how is it around this hotel? Is it dangerous to walk to the Dome from there? It seems to be close by.

I wanted to go to a Cardinals game but they are in Chicago against the Cubs at Wrigley at that time. Damn. I thought I might take a tour of Busch Stadium if such is offered.

And is there a good tour of the city in one of those big bus tours that has an open upper deck?

Taste of St. Louis will be going on in Ball Park Village right outside of Busch so with that going on, I would doubt there will be any tours or anything going on inside Busch.

That's almost right across the street, you're fine!

Not too sure about tours. I think the ballpark has tours, and Anheuser Busch has tours. Our zoo is free and very nice.

Can still fly and stay cheap. If not for Devo the night before I would make it a Judas Priest & Rolling Stones double header.

Hi Kovach,

I've been checking hotels.com & booking.com. Would you do me a hugh favor? Can you recommend a hotel close to the Dome that you consider safe? I was looking at Marriott St Louis Grand that you recommended, but it's a bit out of my price range. Thank you!

HA! You're right. I was wondering if anyone would challenge me on that. Actually and incredibly it's a pretty safe area, BUT scary to walk through if walking drug zombies are a concern. It's pretty sad.
