I've only been to Louisville once (saw Roger Waters a couple years ago there), but it's a fun city. Assuming the horses are running, Churchill Downs (home of the Kentucky Derby) is a really fun way to spend a day. The Louisville Slugger Baseball Museum is a really great take for baseball fans (that's where they make the bats - but it's just really cool!). I didn't get to the Mohammed Ali Museum, but I'm betting that's well worth a couple hours. And of course they 'really' like their Bourbon there! AND, the reason I'm most tempted to return, is to go to the Brown Hotel and get a Hot Brown sandwich - one of the most delicious sandwiches I've ever had. I guess you can get it at a lot places, but the Brown Hotel I 'think' is where it originated. (for those not in the know, to say it's a hot turkey sandwich, is doing it a major disservice).

Churchill is running its Spring meet, open that Sun (the 14th) and they have evening races the day before on the 13th (Sat), starts at 6pm-local.

The Sheraton Four Points at the Airport looks to be 1/2 mile away.

If you're looking for something more upscale, I'd suggest the short uber drive from downtown (3-4 miles), The Omni, Downtown Marriot, Galt House, also The Seelbach is where the band stayed when last in Louisville (I believe) - all good options.

How about the U of L fraternities or sororities? I think they let members of respective Greek societies stay for free overnight-

Haha! Does not apply to me. Maybe it will help someone else.

This is a first, have not seen frat or sorority houses recommended as places to stay in my years on IORR.

If your in the evening before, nice pubs/eateries near the Galt House too. Doc Crows, Bluegrass Brewing, Jeff Ruby's,Troll Pub, Hell or High Water, Stevie Ray's (nice Blues club) - to name a few.
