Wouldn’t be surprised if All The Rage is an early Star Star. :-D
Or maybe,You Should Have Seen Her Ass?

2020 being the sensitive soul that it is, they probably would have ended up re-titling that one in case someone goes out of their way to be offended.

All this hype for 3 outtakes plus 4 different mixes, 2 instrumental versions and a piano demo of songs that were on the album. Plus a show (albeit a great one) that has now been officially available for nine years.

Christ, and I thought the 'Sticky Fingers' deluxe was underwhelming.

I know there was a lot of songs listed for these sessions and its understandable they dont want to put out stuff that might be nothing more than a rough demo, but surely they have reasonably listenable versions of 'Waiting On A Friend' and other tracks

On the plus side. 'All The Rage' is a new title on me.

"Underwhelming" regarding the Sticky Fingers deluxe package is putting it mildly. From my perspective, with the exception of Some Girls and the Totally Stripped deluxe box set, these guys just can't get it right when it comes to delivering these re-issues. I felt teased with only including half of the London Roundhouse tracks on the Sticky Fingers re-issue (which was arguably one of their best 1971 performances).

Yes. Those performances were off the scale. Always loved the Leeds show but the Roundhouse performances were even better. What did we get - five songs taken from the two shows? Such a tease!

How is Scarlet a Stones song with no Stones playing on it except Keith,- Page , Grech , etc..Isn’t it a Keith solo song

This version will obviously be the Stones recorded version. I highly doubt Mick would work on a version of the song that didn't include him at all.

I also recall Don Was saying something about "Scarlet" being a track they dug up when they were going through tapes for the EXILE reissue, if anyone could find the quote that'd be great.

well, most of these albums have to get a Keith solo vocal in somewhere - hence you got a 'Soul Survivor' on the Exile reissue with Keith singing nonsense lyrics over the original track that should never have seen the light of day and a version of 'We Had it all' on the Some Girls reissue that was actually recorded a year after the album came out.

'Scarlet' seems to date from no earlier than Oct '74 according to Nico's site.

True, no idea how I missed the Keith songs on those reissues. Than again, the STICKY FINGERS reissue didn't have any Keith vocals. I'd just find it weird to include a song that wasn't a Stones recording. Perhaps this version was done during the GHS sessions. I'm sure not EVERYTHING has been documented on Nico's site. "Plundered My Soul" wasn't on his site until the song came out. The same could be for this version of "Scarlet."

Of course. And a lot of listed songs are 'unverified'.

I doubt there was ever a proper vocal for 'Plundered my soul' anyway. It could well have had a different title as well.

Fair play to anyone who tries to put together a sessionography for the Stones. With so much work being done on mobile recording units, it must be a nightmare to keep track of. Studio logs seem very elusive for the most part, unlike acts like, say, Elvis, Dylan or the Beatles, where it seems quite easy to track down (presumably partly because so many of their respective recordings were made at studios owned by their respective record labels)

So the album is re-MIXED for this release, not just a remaster.

No one else finds that interesting??

Also, if any of those outtakes/alternates are from the Village Recorders session I’ll be quite happy.

Lots of choices, but will settle for either the two CD deluxe and/or the two vinyl deluxe (standard black) as I already have Brussels Affair multiple times over in boots, and also the official massive Brussels Affair box set.
The 4 CD box set of this is intriguing as is the 4LP vinyl box set, but will wait for a blowout clearance sale such as the recent Talk is Cheap deluxe box deal, and the Brussels box deal back in 2015.
Cool to see there will be a cassette as I still have a massive collection and still play them occasionally - especially my old school customized mix tapes - might have to throw one in the shopping cart.

Considering how much they're milking this with all these formats, a bit surprised there's not an ultimate massive Super Duper CD/vinyl combo Deluxe with maybe a few extra trinkets thrown in.

Since a few weeks the 2009 remasters are often labeled as "2009 mix", e.g. here [youtu.be] although it's only the 2009 remaster. So also could be just a new remaster...

"New stereo album mix" is not a "remix". Until it says "remixed" or "remix" it's just the designation of the 2020 remaster, if it even has been remastered, or just the 2020 reissue. Or it's just some cool hip thing to say.

Isn’t a “new mix“ a “remix“? There has to’ve been some new mixes made, otherwise how do you explain the 5.1 mix on the Blu-Ray?

Well it was the case for all the Beatles 50 th anniversary editions, Sgt Pepper's (2017 mix), White Album (2018 mix), Abbey Road 2019 mix. (songs remixed)

And also for David Bowie Space Oddity : 2019 mix. (songs remixed)

It was no lie since Amazon.de listed the same date - [iorr.org] . I guess it was just postponed by 1 week, maybe due to production bottlenecks (similar to the LIAGT-CD from May 29 to Jun 26). Maybe 4th September is another big release day (like Jun 26) with Atlantic City '89, Tokyo '90 - [iorr.org] , [iorr.org] - as well as GHS-Deluxe.

is All the Rage a commonly, or even A, bootlegged item?

Some of the other tracks, some of them, the instrumentals and different mixes etc, sound like a few tracks found on the Midnight Beat label bootleg named Acetates. But i can't find I have a boot of the track All the Rage, nor of course, Scarlet.

Happy to have "new" Stones, but it's a wee bit underwhelming nevertheless.

Why two versions of Hide Your Love? It’s one of the weakest tracks on the album.Just to showcase Mick’s prowess on the piano? Would have preferred an alternate take of Angie or Star Star and and definitely an instrumental Can You Hear the Music. And why no Winter demo or alternate? Too much Taylor?Hopefully a bootlegger will get a hold of the session tapes and put out the alternate takes like the Satanic Majesties one.And this release is underwhelming compared to what Yoko put out for Imagine album with dozens of outtakes and alternate versions of songs. And why Brussels again and not London 1973?

Cool news.

My first concern was for "You Should Have Seen Her Ass" to see the light of day. It (thankfully) is actually named "All The Rage". An Ian Stewart super performance.

Stay safe everyone.

Scarlet, why you wearin' my heart on your sleeve, where it ain't supposed to be?

How do you know ATR is YSHSHA ?

Also where does that "Scarlet" quote come from ?

As for "PMS" not being "known" before the Exile rerelease that's true but VideoJames did say he'd heard an instrumental version of that song in a message somewhere here. If I can be bothered I'll go back to his book from 1997 to see what he may have called it in there, if he did.

Anyway the release of Scarlet puts an end to the speculation that it might have been the source of PMS. I'd only be half surprised if we didn't know it as "English Rose" though as it was played back during the Rotterdam Sessions with other old tracks. It would fit the "theme" too with Scarlet being an "English Rose", well we shall see !
