The Royal Albert Hall is doing full-capacity gigs from July onwards.. would be a nice way to ease back in.

There is no way they can tour until the world is safe vs covid-19. The only places they could tour are Australia and New Zealand, where the borders are covid-19-closed, but I can not see Mick, Keith and the rest of the band- and crew - sitting two weeks in a quarantine hotel down under.

Sure vaccine doses are handled in USA, UK and a few other places at a great speed. Still most of the population age 0-50 are still not vaccinated, and as far as I know. Also, many do not want to get vaccinated. Outside the rick countries in the western world, hardly anyone are vaccinated. Travel to USA and UK is still possible from India, Brazil, and other high-infection areas, via other countries.

We are all in the same boat, unfortunately. I just can not imagine myself sitting in a chair in a stadium, at a Stones show, mask on, 3-6 feet apart from friends. It's not really rock'n'roll.

While I was hoping for the slim possibility of a Spring/Summer 2022 rescheduling, right now even that sounds a bit too overly optimistic.
Seems 2023 is probably being more realistic and rational, but not sure if the Stones will be up for it that far off in the future, and at their age.
But maybe things will change again, and hopefully for the better. I still think best case scenario is a few small shows in London
next year to celebrate the 60th, with limited attendance, restrictions in place, etc., etc., etc.

As for sitting in a chair in a stadium at a Stones show, mask on, 3-6 feet apart... definitely not rock'n'roll at all...more like a visit to a library.

Just shows how widely people range in their opinions and/or comfort levels. I fully plan on attending the July 6, 2021 Black Crowes show at Ascend (general admission grass).

Stones not touring till 2023? Might as well call it a day, if that's the case.

I was giving an opinion on the possibility of the Stones rescheduling - not my personal comfort level. There's too many variables that need to be worked out before the Stones will commit to a rescheduling, and until all of those factors are worked out, can't see it happening any time soon. The Stones are nearly 80 years old and it takes an entire village to get their tour moving properly. Considering the current situation with anti-vaxxers, surges, variants/mutations, and dozens of other unknowns, hard to imagine the Stones would ever put themselves, their crew, and their fans at any risk if it can be avoided. The only way to avoid those risks now is to wait it out patiently, but unfortunately time keeps on ticking. And unlike other bands, they certainly don't need the money. As for the Black Crowes show at Ascend, if it's not postponed again, hope you have a good time.

My mistake. Thanks for your well wishes!

There is all the talk of the "supply" side of the equation. There is little talk of the "demand" side of things. Most sports teams have capacity caps on events. If people were comfortable baseball teams would be selling out the 1/3 capacity for outdoor games. Right now that isn't generally the case. If that holds true and there is no reason not to expect that, a Stones tour would be a financial bloodbath to the promoters or the Stones would need to be willing to take a major haircut on their receipts. I can't see 50,000 people attending any shows right now at $200 to $1,000 a ticket. Others may disagree and we will see soon enough..

This administration has met or exceeded every Covid vaccination goal they've put forth so far.
No reason to believe that will change.

If this latest one is reached by July 4th, there is no reason to think we won't be filling stadiums by Sept.
Watch.

Biden’s new Covid vaccination goal is for 70% of adults to have at least one shot by July 4

President Joe Biden on Tuesday announced his administration’s latest goals in the fight against the coronavirus: getting 70% of U.S. adults to receive at least one dose of a Covid vaccine, and having 160 million adults fully vaccinated, by July 4.

The new vaccination targets came two months out from Independence Day, a date the White House hopes will mark a turning point in the pandemic.

“If we succeed in this effort,” Biden said at the White House, “then Americans will have taken a serious step toward a return to normal.”

Norway introduced closed borders similar to the system they have in Australia, still not completely closed. After that the cases are down by 75%, and people in hospital are down by more than 50%. No international sports are allowed in Norway, no foreigners are entering without a hotel quarantine. They say the UK, Brazil, South America and even India variants all came in to our country through import, travel. Closing the border was the only way to slow down the virus.

I don't know if the US borders are closed. You can probably travel from India or Brazil to USA, through other countries. Until 80% or more of the entire population is vaccinated, including kids and young people, the virus will reappear. More than half of all the new covid-19 positives in our most recent wave was age under 18. The new variants move fast among children, silently, then they are passed onto the parents, and further on everywhere.

Sure there will be stadium events, but that will be mainly with low-risk athets and performers in sports and entertainment under the age of 60, with low risk of side effects in case of catching the virus. Mick and Keith will turn 78 this year. Ronnie will be 74 soon. Charlie will be 80 this summer. They are not in their 20's anymore. They do not have the stamina of young NHL and NFL players.

Sure I wish they will tour soon, but I am sure their doctors will have a saying about risk and travel to places where covid-19 is still around. Also, the insurance company will probably have a saying.

Agreed, and I would bet their doctors and the insurance companies probably aren't as impatient as some fans are to see the band go out on the road with all the risks involved.
Like you, I also wish they would tour soon, but as we know there's still just way too many risks and uncertainties. The fact is they're very old people - even prior to the pandemic there were worries about them.
If Charlie, Keith, Mick or Ronnie were elderly relatives of mine, I certainly wouldn't want to be sending them out to perform in outdoor stadiums amidst tens of thousands of people during a global pandemic.
Even given the fact they aren't relatives of mine, as a lifelong fan the last thing I'd like to see is them putting themselves at risk. I imagine their family, their doctors, and the insurance companies feel the same way.

Vaccinated is vaccinated.
Jesus, we're supposed to worry about vaccinated people traveling and going out etc now? Laughable.

Nope.

By the way daspy, I'm sure you've heard the good news earlier that down here in LA and up north in San Francisco (near your turf), both cities are moving in to the least restrictive yellow tier based on the success in lowering the coronavirus cases, hospitalizations, deaths, etc. Certainly no time to completely let down our guards, but both LA and SF can pat themselves on the backs for a job well done, and have to admit it's rather satisfying.
At the rate we're going in California, maybe the Stones will decide to take up residency here some time in the future, that's if things keep going the positive way they're going here - gotta keep the faith.thumbs up

1. Who exactly, outside of hyperbole-land, are these people who want to be locked down forever?

2. Vaccinated may be vaccinated, but I'm fully vaccinated and still vulnerable because the meds I take greatly reduce the efficacy of the vaccine, and there are many people like me.

I agree, we are lucky to live in a place where more people get it. Not completely letting my guard down but enjoying seeing fellow vaccinated friends. Almost everyone in my circle has had at least one. My son gets his second on Friday after finals. I am looking forward to more normalcy this summer living in an area where over 70% will be vaccinated and still abiding by the mask mandates for now. Bands will want to play out here when other areas get bad again.

Sorry to hear Aquamarine, but yes there are many like you. I have a friend who is in a similar situation, and after reading your post, it had me thinking of the Stones themselves.
I think Keith has been on some type of anti-seizure meds since severely banging his head in 2006, and wondering if those particular meds might reduce the efficacy of the vaccination.
And there's Mick who might be on some form of heart medication (blood thinners, etc.) since his health scare a couple of years ago, and if so is the vaccination affected?
Also Charlie and Ronnie with their own health issues involving cancer...thankfully in the clear, but wondering if on any meds because of it.

Generally speaking, the vaccination efficacy ranges between apprx. 70-95% (depending on which vaccine), so I imagine those percentages can drop to various levels depending on which other meds one is taking.
Many meds might not have an affect at all, but if any of the Stones are on meds that can reduce the efficacy of the vaccination, surely another reason for being extra cautious when thinking about rescheduling dates.

If the tour is going to happen in 2022 hopefully we get an idea of what they are thinking sooner rather than later. Assuming things are somewhat normal I expect to be in the UK from about May 5 to the 17th. Hopefully I get home and a Stones tour follows after that.

Doing the outdoor stadium shows in the fall would be difficult for all the
reasons listed previously in other posts. This should push the tour into
2022. Because of the potentially very busy concert calendar in 2022 - they
must already have some venues reserved. Maybe some of these dates will leak
out? Anyway, hopefully we will soon have at least a rough idea of when the tour
will be.

Not quite a Rolling Stones concert, but my wife and I just saw a traditional Mariachi band performing live for free at one of our favorite local Mexican restaurants on an outside stage to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.
It was live, it was loud, and it was quite a boisterous and festive atmosphere. Good times had by all, and was fun enough to make us temporarily forget the pandemic!

Sadly for the second time now, Denmark's massive Roskilde Festival cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Canceled in 2020, then rescheduled to this upcoming June 26 to July 3rd, 2021, now cancelled again to 2022.

> Roskilde
"Finally, we received an official statement about this summer’s restrictions. As expected, we can’t conduct a Roskilde Festival this summer. Let us meet again in 2022.
We are devastated by the fact that we can’t get together at our festival and contribute to recreating the communities that the corona crisis has destroyed for so many.
The cancellation is very serious for the festival, for the charity society behind it and for our community. And it is serious for the artistic environments and the growth segments of culture.
But it will not be possible to gather 130,000 people at Roskilde Festival this summer. But we will meet again in 2022. And our community is strong"!

NFL schedule will be released in two days. In addition to the pandemic, stadium availability in late August through mid November should tell us a bit about Stones tour.

Tough to schedule when you need to block an entire week between stage building, night of show and tear down/load out.
