Roger Waters, Nick Mason, Eric Clapton and Taylor Swift have also rescheduled big tours til 2022. Well, Roger is like the Stones where dates TBD.

The word around the campfire before was that the Stones wanted to tour in 2021 but the insurance companies wanted to push it back to 2022.

Also, I heard this:

"The logistics company that handles their trucks were receiving inquiries to tour as early as May. May of course won’t be happening but it does show their intent to tour sooner than later."

I hope I'm wrong but I just find it hard to believe they could tour in 2022. At some point it just feels silly to hope for it; sadly they're at the age that really makes it seem inconceivable.

Eric Church just announced a U.S. arena tour kicking off in September 2021 and running into May 2022 with an in-the-round configuration assuring as many fans as possible can gather again for large-scale live music.

An Eric Church show I went to previously had Chuck Leavell playing with him.

I think this announcement proves its not really a question of insurance or vaccine passports for when shows return its when artist wants to also when its safe.

I hope it all goes forward as planned - I enjoyed some of those early Eric Church tunes when driving up through Bakersfield,
and then up to the mountains of the Sequoia National Forest while listening to the local country radio stations.
There was one catchy tune about "mustard on a hot dog" ...lol...I think it was him, but can't think of the title of the tune.

Anyways, details of tour from Taste of Country - Eric Church Tour

"Church has become a leading voice in country music's push to get back onstage. He recently posed for the cover of Billboard getting his vaccination,
and in an accompanying article, he emphasized that getting vaccinated was the only path forward for things to return to normal after the COVID-19 pandemic".

And this Taste of Country article from April 1: Eric Church/Billboard Vaccine

"It became very clear to me that the only way to really get back to normal is through vaccinations. You’ve got to get needles in arms," says Church, who, at the start of the pandemic, met with various health and music industry specialists to devise a plan to begin playing live shows again. "If you believe you shouldn't [get vaccinated], I don’t have a problem with it. I’m a liberty guy, too. I get it," Church adds. "But I view this a little differently than most other things. We’ve never encountered this."

To Billboard, Church's team shares that they're working on plans for a post-pandemic tour. They've been working on scheduling show dates — though plans have needed to shift pretty constantly — and hope to pay any additional costs associated with new protocols on their end, rather than push it to fans via ticket prices.

Church's manager, John Peets, explains that their plans also include tickets going on sale closer to show dates than before, given the potential for COVID-19 testing or vaccination proof for entry to concerts.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Wondering if either proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test will be required...if I were to attend any concert, I would hope so.

My bet is that it's going to vary state-to-state...

I realize that, but wondering if the artists themselves will have any say in the matter? Or maybe a stipulation from an insurance company?
And I would imagine some bands and artists will want to err on the side of caution - not only for themselves, but for those in attendance.
If providing proof of vaccination or a negative test is the route they or their insurance company requires, they probably won't be allowed to perform in that particular state.
I'm sure Texas and Florida (among a couple others) will welcome anyone no matter what - even if they're a walking corona timebomb!
But some states will clearly have some level of restrictions for the foreseeable future such as here in California.

Per your link:

"In California, for example, starting April 15, venues looking to host larger gatherings like concerts and sporting events,
will have the option to host larger events if they require proof of vaccination of guests".

The Stones could possibly play here in very large venues soon - call it the No Vaccination - No Entry tour.

good point(s)....who knows what "say" the acts will have?

I would imagine if it is a State Law and it is already passed, they can't do much about it and will simply have to modify their tour as they see fit....

the lawyers will get rich, one way or the other.

Stated matter of factly like an insider.
Which you very well could be, but I'm leanin' towards this being an opinion/prediction, not a fact.

Easy to land on that opinion/prediction though, as signs seem to be pointing that direction.

But- I stand by my opinion/prediction.. the US (sans Canada) tour will be rescheduled for late summer/early fall.

Any word on how the NFL would feel about having an extra 40,000 plus fans in their venues on an off day? Just curious, I'm going to assume the NFL would like to be close to full capacity themselves by Fall. Can't see any team signing off any concerts in their venues if the NFL itself isn't going to be at 100% capacity.

I kept my tickets for Tacoma (9/17/22). I got nice ones for realistic money.

Mine were fairly inexpensive, couple rows up in the upper balcony, didn't want to spend too much since I saw him in late 2017. Assuming the stage/video screens are similar to last time, I thought it would be better to be higher up so I can take pics of the screen which stretches the whole length of the floor.

He is going to play in the round & the talk is it's going to be some sort of stunning presentation. He's going to be 79 by the time the tour happens & is still breaking new ground with his show. He's saying it's his first farewell tour. He's honery enough (God bless him) that he'll keep going for awhile. Seems to be in reasonably good health.

I'm going to assume the NFL will move to full capacity, along with other entertainment venues, schools etc. by fall.

Not saying rescheduling a US only tour for fall is going to be easy..
Just saying they will.

Similar to Bigger Bang where they juggled football stadiums with college stadiums, arenas, and race tracks.
Where there's a will($$$) there's a way.

Yes completely different tour than Us+Them, and shows will be in the round - not a bad seat in the house.
And as is the case with all his shows, being a bit further back is better than being too close - both visually and soundwise quadrophonically for the full on sensory overload.
Was refunded for all shows I had tix for last year (L.A. x 2, Vegas, and S.F. x2), and will now recommit to just two maybe three...thinking Vegas, L.A. #1 and maybe L.A. #2...depending...
Took a peak at the tix for these new dates, and plenty of seats in all categories available for all three of those shows, and the tour starts well over a year from now, so plenty of time to ponder.

Meanwhile, thinking if the Stones do want to reschedule, they just might be able to do so some time in the Spring/early Summer 2022...could be late summer 2022...but then there's the NFL to deal with.
Rescheduling massive stadiums is probably a bit trickier than rescheduling much smaller indoor arenas such as Roger Waters just did, and his tour doesn't start until July 2022.

When NFL stadiums are not outright owned by the team, or even if they're supported through, I dunno, payments from the state they're in, which a majority of almost all of them are not owned by the team, it's highly unlikely the NFL team or the NFL dictates how the stadium can be used.

Some movie theaters have reopened with limited capacity here in San Diego County. Today, I did something I haven’t done in over a year: I went to the movies. And man was it ever such a great feeling to be in a movie theater again. I went to an early show and there only 13 or 14 people there, all seated far apart. Most people took their masks off when they sat down. I kept mine on the entire time. So a step toward normal. My second jab isn’t until Sunday, but I really wanted to see, as I do every year, the Oscar-nominated live action short films. Those are never available to view other than in theaters just before the Academy Awards show, so I took the leap and really enjoyed it! Of course, a crowded concert would be an even bigger leap. Here’s to as many people getting vaccinated as soon as possible to bring as all closer to normal again!

Great to hear Sir Mick speaking optimistically about getting the tour back on the road, but could this be a precursor to some local regulations regarding crowds in full attendance at sporting events or concerts?

Keep in mind that as of today The Rolling Stones are still under contract to play Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, NY.

Time will tell what the new rules might be...

They're wise old men, and don't want to go forward without assurance that everything will actually happen.

Obviously they have stated their intent to do these gigs, equally obvious that venues/dates are "up in the air" currently. Literally and figuratively.

All the wondering aside about how and when... sometimes I think 'Whaddaya mean when? Kinda more like if' - will Keith be able to hold up? Of the four he's had the hardest time with performing.

That's the one thing that might hold them back and derail it completely - if he can't keep it together. Which is a practical thing to ponder considering the substantial damage he's done to himself plus entering his 79th year the end of this year.

Yeah, poor old Keith is getting really old and hope he can handle the sometimes harsh rigours of the road - even if they do stay in 5 star hotels, can't be easy going from one city to the next at his age.
If it wasn't obvious prior to the pandemic and during the last decade of touring, that recent clip of of him hunkered over his guitar playing the simplest of riffs sort of tells you where he's at.
It was sort of poignant seeing him that way to be honest, and it was the first time I ever really considered him truly mortal like the rest of all living things. Keep on rolling Keith. thumbs up
