Chicago won't trade Patrick Kane back to his home town! He's still playing at an elite level and the Hawks are making a push for the playoffs! Maybe in a couple years! The next few weeks will determine which teams are buyers and which are sellers.
I think Tampa in the East and St. Louis in the west for cup winners, although there are always upsets once the playoffs start. Canucks are hot right now and could make it deep into the playoffs.
From the 2019 draft, both first and second overall picks, Jack Hughes and Kaapo Kakko haven't really lit the league on fire. Neither has 3rd overall Kirby Dach on the Hawks. I think Quinn Hughes, Jack's older brother, who the Canucks took last year, will win the Calder. Also don't count out Blackhawk Dominic Kubalik, who is playing very well lately.
Sounds like the Seattle team is going to be called the Kraken, not sure how giant squid are affiliated with Seattle! Sockeyes was mentioned and many in Vancouver were saying that the Canucks logo is the Orca, which feed on salmon!

Kane is in the 5th year of an 8 year deal at $10 million per year cap hit and he is 31 years old and has already won three Stanley Cups for Chicago. The smart move would be to move him now and get some premium picks and players. The Sabres will be in the bottom 10 AGAIN for the 2020 draft possibly a lottery winner. To move him now makes sense, Hawks will not win the Cup this season.

I would send Reinhart and Bogosian to Chicago to make a deal with picks. The Sabres badly need a second line center. Kane still has 3 to 5 good years left. Kane with Skinner would be lethal. Okposo is hurt again and pretty much a bust with that contract. The Sabres also need a big hitting defenseman. A deal for Kane is out of the conference even better. The NHL salary cap is $82 million.
Besides, look what at Toronto pays: Tavares $11 million, Marner $11 million, Matthews $11.6 million, Nylander $7.5 million, Rielly $5 million

That is what the Leafs are paying and that's why they're in so much trouble. Can't afford to pay the top 4 players half the team salary! At this point they're barely in a playoff position, next few weeks will determine if they will be sellers at the deadline!
My Hawks actually have cap space right now because of injuries so I want to see what their plans are. Hopefully they make a good run and are in a playoff position so we'll see. Stan Bowman's job may be on the line if they don't make it.

Seattle should be the Rain.
They would start in the fall of 2021? That's a long ways away.

I was pulling for Seattle Totems (minor league team was named that when I was a kid). After reading BVs post, I can live with the Kraken. Maybe Keith & Johnny Depp will show up!

They will be the second pro team (I'm sure someone could correct this) that I know of, both in the NHL, that will not have an S at the end of their name.
Well, ha ha, it could be a lot worse of a name!

Kraken, Minnesota Wild, TB Lightning. I guess if you want to get technical, Red Sox and White Sox! Several WNBA teams don't have an S at the end of their names. I don't follow WNBA but I know there's Reign and Liberty.

A hot off the presses addition to the list...
"The Washington Football Team" at least for the upcoming season.
