I am beginning to like this album more and more, even winning ugly, heavy weaving guitars, cool drums and bass, ofcourse a strange 80 production but still. same for back to zero actually I like this song a lot!! the rest of the album is actually very good, the solo in dirty work,sleep tonight(ronnie on drums) to,so funny how things change, I ve had the same with emotional resque and black and blue, I used to think they werent so good but now I love them. It took a while before I really got into dirty work(I bought it in 86) the stones still suprise me!!!anymore dirtywork lovers around?????

no I think its their worst effort. I like One hit, Had it with you. Love Sleep tonight. Too Rude & Winning Ugly ok. Fight, Hold back & Back to Zero the worst for me. Dirty work song itself is avg to just below. Its not terrible but their worst in catalogue. 3 "keepers"

I have to be in the mood for it but I do admit to throwing it on the turntable every now and then. Back to Zero is probably the one song I despise off that album, others I just have to be in the mood. If for nothing else, Had It With You and Sleep Tonight redeem the whole work.

Then again, I like/love Emotional Rescue.

Best thing about the album is the Olga comic (ya gonna follow the beat or do I gotta whip ya?)

"One hit", "Harlem shuffle", "Dirty work" and "Had it with you" would have made a good EP. The rest is of outtake quality. "Winning ugly" could have saved Mick Jaggers PRIMITIVE COOL if he had only kept it to himself.

Great album....I truly think that it was great considering the circumstances it was recorded under at the time.Undercover,DW;SW,VL B2B and ABB are all good albums.Much better than 1990{s grunge and lame arse alternatrive sewerage

In the overall picture of Stones albums it is without a doubt at or near the bottom of the bowl...though I do like "Harlem Shuffle"

I was really excited about Dirty Work before it came out, then I was really disappointed after it came out. (But it's still a pretty good Stones album.)

agree with Drake...Had It With You is fast and hard with cool tempo changes and
Sleep Tonight is simply beautiful. I might add One Hit as a decent rocker and Harlem Shuffle as a decent cover. Otherwise it's a very poor effort for well known reasons.

Only 2 good ones and 2 decent ones make it a pretty bad album...by Stones standards. Still better than most bands...of course!

Dirty Work is awesome! Ok, it suffers from bad '80s production, especially on the drums. But - great guitar work from Keith and Ronnie! And I really love One Hit (cool acoustic guitar by Ronnie, and that Jimmy Page solo!), Dirty Work and Harlem Shuffle. Too Rude and Sleep Tonight are among Keith's best! Hell, I even like Fight and Had it With You. Rest are iffy, but overall a great and greatly under rated album.

i dig this album a lot -
there's only one and a half tracks on it that i hear as misunderstandings.

Well, some of the songs are not that bad, it's the 80's production that's bad.
One Hit (to The Body), Harlem Shuffle, Dirty Work, Had It With You and especially Sleep Tonight are great songs i.m.o.
Fight is o.k., but yeah, Hold Back, Too Rude, Winning Ugly and Back To Zero are not very good I must say.

I like DW, I think it's quite good Stones album.Not the best, but very enjoyable. I like all post Tattoo You albums, except Steel Wheels. As someone on this board said: on SW another band plays,it doesn't sound like the ROLLING STONES.That's the difference!

I think its a good album, better than Undercover and maybe Steel Wheels.

I like it ,really. Great Music...especially Sleep Tonight,Had it with you, Stu´s boogie,One Hit to ,actually the whole album.

The "Honky Tonk Woman" single has bass only on the choruses. Pretty strange for an all-time classic single.

"Had It With You" is one of the great hidden gems in the Stones catalogue. Just a nasty little rockabilly kick. It would be a gas, gas, gas to hear them do it onstage.

I love "Too Rude" and several of the others on "Dirty Work" as well. Hats off to the Stones for trying (and largely failing) with different production techniques.
