He had to audition to prove he was fit enough to play, but was turned down by his bandmates. Now he has to pay his replacement (his drum tech) $10.000 a week for rehearsals and $20.000 a week for shows, out of his own pocket.
Pretty wild...

Damn! Maybe I need to be a drum tech and forget about medical school......
Elmo your in luck, Joey's drum tech John Douglas is now looking for his own drum tech since he cannot do both. And who knows, if John f**ks up, you may be their next drummer...

Where do I get my application? I've watched Charlie (and Joey) for years!

I wonder if John Douglas is any relation to Jack Douglas..who produced Aerosmith's run of classic albums in the 70s?

When you listen to Aerosmith these days...I mean if he's not fit enough to play, quality wise, he must be a total disaster. Just listen to Steven and Perry, they are horrible now.

Who's the drum tech? I know Aerosmith has been doing the Vegas residency, has Joey not played at all during this time?
I remember when I saw Aerosmith around 2010ish in Vancouver, Tom Hamilton was unable to play so they had a replacement fill in, not sure who it was. I believe that tour had Joan Jett opening.

But I suspect there is more underneath this, than Joey merely «lacking some energy» in his playing...

So to be clear, you're in a band and you're not doing the things you need to do to recover from apparently two separate injuries. Your bandmates should keep you on indefinitely and if you need your tech as a stand-in, everyone should pay equally for the cost?

I don’t think much of him as a drummer anyways.

If he has to pay for his replacement, then he should keep his share of what they earn, or it is double punishment.

Charlie and the Stones could sit down and play JJF, Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter and Satisfaction in their sleep without extensive rehearsals.

Seriously? Try three weeks minimum and at least the first show is still pretty rough at times...and it's not like they're doing new material, either.

I'm thinking about Aerosmith now.. how come they were all over the place in the 90s on MTV and the Stones weren't.. good manager?
