And Howard Sprague would be holding court in Floyd's Barbershop, and here's a snippet of the conversation:

HOWARD: You know, of course, that those musicians that Brian Jones recorded in Joujouka were from Morocco.

FLOYD: Is that near Mt. Pilot?

HOWARD: No, Floyd, Morocco. It's a country in Africa.

FLOYD: Oh, well, then, NO, it couldn't be near Mt. Pilot. Did Brian Jones ever go to Mt. Pilot?

HOWARD: Uh, I don't think so, Floyd.

FLOYD: How about Calvin Coolidge? Now THERE'S a person who went to Mt. Pilot!

HOWARD: No, no, Floyd. We're talking about the Rolling Stones.

FLOYD: Calvin Coolidge was in the Rolling Stones?

HOWARD: AAAAUUUGGGGHHH! (runs screaming from barber shop)

that's classic mongoose......you're from NC aren't you?....saw the Who in 1975 like I did, in G'boro?

Yep....born in Hickory, NC. Lived in a little town outside Hickory called Granite Falls until I was six years old. I know that Mt. Airy is the real Mayberry, but Granite Falls was darn close, down to the Courthouse and the one gas station (at least, that's the way it was from 1956-1961 when I was there). All we need now is some Cheerwine, or a cold Sundrop, and some barbeque, and we'd be in business!

That show by the Who in Greensboro in '75 was a classic, I'm so glad I got to see Keith Moon live. Excellent concert. During the same year was my first Rolling Stones concert, also in Greensboro, during the Tour of the America's. The only other big Greensboro show in '75 that I missed was Led Zeppelin (my band had a gig that night, which meant grocery money), but friends tell me that that particular show was probably one of the worst five concerts the band ever performed, so I don't feel as bad!

....small world, mongoose.....I know all about Granite Falls.....I live in a small college town in the mountains about an hour north of there....you can figure it out.....I got a speeding ticket in Granite Falls once, ugly story.....got locked up......it was not a friendly jail like the one in Mayberry, I'll tell you that!!!

Lukester, let's try to keep jail stories in the past when we go to the ATL.

No need in adding to our legacy. Maybe a fall out of a coconut tree or something!

.....Elmo, bro', don't you worry......there were extenuating circumstances, shall we say....but in the end I came out on top.....there shal be no jail stories resulting from our Atlanta trip, I can promise you that (unless you want a jail story)

Old stories are great. Let's just don't live any new ones! Big fun - oh, yeah. Jail - I hope not. Twice is enough for me. Overnight stays, BTW, no prison.

Lukester....that small town in N.C. wouldn't have been Boone, would it? I spent my freshman year of college at Appalachian State. Dry county at the time, we used to have to hitch to Blowing Rock to get a pitcher of beer.

Sorry about the Granite Falls jail thing. I remember trying to hitch a ride back to ASU in 1974 in Hickory, and at the time my hair was parted down the middle and way down over my shoulders. Cars of crew cut guys with Confederate flag tattoos would change lanes just to flip me the finger before roaring off. ("Hey....thanks.....and you have a great day, too, OK?"). If it had not been for a fellow student who recognized me and stopped, I'd probably still be standing out there right now.

Another Mayberry thought....we've left out the women in this situation.

How's this.....Helen and Thelma Lou decide to take Anita Pallenberg and Marianne Faithful out shopping at Weaver's Department Store. Now how's THAT for a visual image......

Whoa! I forgot about Anita and Marianne arriving in Mayberry. Will they have to open a disco when Bianca hits town?

Anita and Marianne could be the 2 women with the real deep voices that Andy & Barney picked up in Mt. Pilot to make Thelma Lou and Helen angry .

Remember them ??

And Keith as Wil E Coyote.
Jagger as Cruella de Ville
Charlie as Wimpy.
Maybe Bianca as Pepe le Pew

Which is the better place to live - Mayberry or Mayfield (home of Beaver Cleaver)?

He'd shoot up with Aunt B before making an apple pie.

She would after shooting up with Keith, that's for sure, but the rest of the episode would be Keith trying to explain what HP sauce is, and tyring to find it in Mayberry.
