Your top 3 rare RS stuff?
Posted by: rollingvince ()
Date: January 11, 2020 12:25

Hi Stones fans!

I want to explore a collection of rare material, live content, acoustic versions, footage, early stuff, duets, tributes, performances, rehearsals or special documentary's and interviews related to the Stones?

If you were asked to make your list of absolutely favorite things, what would be your top 3? Maybe you have personal memories or connections about it?

Share your links if you like!

Let's play this loud!

A collection of Decca and RS Records press 10x8 b/w photos - about 60 or so. Several vinyl bootlegs from the 70s including The Tour Of The Americas 3 LP box in red, white and blue vinyl. And a huge promotional Some Girls placard autographed by Mick, Keith, Ronnie and Charlie.

My goal always was to get the 7" and LP vinyl of my own
country (Germany) + UK and USA.

Favourites:

1st UK LP with short Tell Me,
the US Promotional album,
US Hot Rocks LP with the different versions of BS and WH,
US promo EPs for Goat´s Head Soup and Exile (with jukebox inlays),
German 10" Beat Beat Beat,
early German 7" red sleeves with the cut off heads.

But there´s a lot more.

I have nothing too rare or rare.

Number one is From the vault extra Tokyo Dome 1990 dvd and the
Voodoo Lounge Japan 1995 dvd/cd that came out last year.

Then i got a couple Charlie Watts Quartet cds from the 90s. not sure how rare are they.

Ronnie Woods Not For Beginners cd Russian pressing. Could be a bit rare.

Not too rare but I like the 3 x 2CD bootleg sets of Through The Vaults Darkly Volume 1, Volume 2 (No Spare Parts), and Volume 3 (The Last Time). I can listen to these from start to finish and thoroughly enjoy.

I suppose they aren't especially rare, but I do have copies of Jamming With Edward, Pipes of Pan, and Bill's first two solo LPs, all on Rolling Stones Records.

Well, at least it's not $1000 like the one on eBay for years. If it's still there, haven't checked. Anyway I have the record but no cover. But I do have the other three Decca Jukebox EPs with covers. Something I love even more is a Spanish EP of Bye Bye Johnny in ex+ to nm condition with center intact. Also I have It's All Over Now UK Demo, also with center. Then there's LSTNT a Greek multi-color 45. On the LP side I have a South African early release with colorful group photo. Really love that one.

Don't know how rare any of this is, but:

NME flexidisk Exile Blues

Before They Make Me Run double side promo 7"...you can see Keiths pupils so as I understand it, it is the original and not a boot copy

I-Contact book number 5 or 6, I forget, signed by Keith and Bill and Anita Pallenberg and others with a signed print of keith in the 60s

a whole boat load of boot cds from the 80s/90s including the usual box sets

another smaller boat load of boot LPs from the 70s mostly, mostly concentrating on pristine or near so recordings

does the Exile on Main Street record box I bought from the stones site count? Its pretty kool but don't know how "rare" it is.

Exile on Main Street t shirt

Reel to Reel master of King Biscuit Flower Hour I think Lexington 78 with box and cue sheets

bunch of Japanese vinyl LPs and 7" singles and EPs

tab of orange acid I got from Owsley @ Altamont. Probably should have taken it a long time ago.

the shite I scraped off my shoes.

nothing all that rare in there I don't think. 'Cept maybe the LSD.

In my opinion there really isn't much "rare" official stuff...most of it was produced in the hundreds of thousands if not millions. The one true rarity I can think of is the original Street Fighting Man 7" picture sleeve. I have never even seen one and I have looked since it first was released and then withdrawn. Go for thousands on ebay when they come up. Please correct me if I am wrong about that. Don't recall the last time I saw one up for auction.

In my opinion, rare is what you can’t find even if willing to pay a lot for it.
That said, I believe I have some records that we could call rare
1. MISS YOU - UK - 12” - brown vinyl with pink splashes
2. Granada Television- UK - promotional only LP with live music from Hyde Park 69
3. Tollie Rec. 7” with BW intro - US
4. Dick&DeeDee 7” - US - non promo
5. The Lancasters - US - 7”
6. UK - DECCA TPs for unreleased export “December’s Children”
7. MEMO FROM TURNER - UK - acetate with unreleased versions

Thus, collecting is such a personal thing that what is rare for me might be of scarce interest for one who collects bootlegs, CDs or memorabilia.
Bye, Luca

Very first pressing of the very first UK album - which means that it has the wrong/long version of "Tell Me". Condition is "distressed", but that matters not as it's also fully autographed.

12 page fold out Pixerama booklet

Savile Theatre ticket stub

Original circular Knebworth poster

1971 UK Tour poster

"I Wanna Be Your Man" cw "Stones" (should be "Stoned")

(Almost) Life Sized Mick Jagger standup from the release/promotion for Sticky Fingers.

Top 3 overall:

- Signed Charlie Watts "From One Charlie" book in the box set edition.

- Various setlist sheets taken from the stage (Licks 2003, Osaka and Sydney) given to me by a friend who worked with video production on that tour.

- 12" pink vinyl: Miss You/Far Away Eyes

Top 3 runner's up:

- Licks wristband from Aragon Ballroom (Sept. 16, 2002)
- Personal photos taken at Aragon (from a few rows back)
- Early uncensored 'Some Girls' vinyl.

1. external hard drives of the Stones' complete digitized archives
2. digital copy of McCartney's bootleg recording of Stu's memorial show
3. external hard drives of everything in the ABKCO vault

Those would be my Top Three if I had them.

For vinyl...very hard to choose:

1. Heart of Stone US single with Picture Sleeve EX.

2. 2 original US copies of Through The Past, still sealed.

3. Hot Rocks original sealed with big black hype sticker across the front, and one that is a SHELLEY 11/18/71. (and one 12/03/71)

4. Come On single with MT tax code...the earliest version.

Like everyone else I have loads of stuff, almost all the US 45 pic sleeves (just missing SFM and the original Beast). All the box sets sealed, most of the US LP's Beggar's onward sealed.

Some of the original UK Decca's are amazing...only two I'm missing are the LIB Mono boxed and unboxed.
