Bridges To Babylon wins because the best songs are better than anything on Voodoo Lounge. Yes, it has worse songs than anything on Voodoo Lounge but I will take the ups and downs over the conservative consistency of the previous album.

As a teenager I loved both albums, and they both have their charm, even if they are no masterpieces. I would like to say that Bridges to Babylon wins, because it is fresher and more courageous.

I got hooked on Stones with Tattoo you.
So my biggest dissapointments were undercover and bridges. The great surprise for me were VL and ABB.
JUST MY OPINION AND FEELINGS

For me any album will beat VL. But to add I think B2B is a very good late era album.

"Flip the Switch", "Out of Control", "Saint of Me", "How Can I Stop", "Anybody Seen my Baby" - these are legitimate late era hits; they were played to death on the road; plus others from the album. It holds up very well.
VL has "Love is Strong".

You don’t think Out of Tears and Thrh and Thru are great songs?

Yes I do. Those two are very good.

To elaborate: what really bothers me about Vl is that it is someone else, someone NOT a Stone trying to fashion what they believe another Stones album should be like. And yes, that is called being a producer. But it has a clawing sense about it. It is neither retro; nor it is not looking ahead; it is just failed.
And to rub it in, we have Brew, Stew and Residue to demonstrate that they were firing on all cylinders, and most likely (acc. to Jagger/Richards) would have given us a tougher, focused album.

Voodoo Lounge !
Great songs (new faces, mean disposition...), great single (love s strong), great production (drums !guitars !). An underrated record.
Bridges could have been a good one but the production is awful and wrecks the good songs..

I forget the name of the movie, but it hadKimBassinger ,Sophia Loren and Marcelo Mastrianniand an all star cast .It made great use of Jump on Top of Me in one scene. Also had a bunch of naked women. It came out right around the album’s release

I love them both but Voodoo seems to have been made during a time when the band was united and very productive. When the Stones are focused on the music and in agreement most of time, they come up with plenty of good songs.

I'd pick VOODOO LOUNGE over BRIDGES TO BABYLON. I appreciate B2B for being the only latter day Stones album where they took their sound in new directions but it just doesn't stand up to me as a great album as a whole. VL is fantastic, but also suffers from being way too long. Trim it down to 12 songs, include "Jump On Top Of Me" and it's easily a top 10 Stones album maybe even better.

Love Is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
Sparks Will Fly
The Worst
New Faces
Out Of Tears
Jump On Top Of Me
I Go Wild
Blinded By Rainbows
Baby Break It Down
Thru and Thru
Mean Disposition

Babylon for me.
Again it wins by the number of absolute belters.

Babylon era has become of of my all time stones eras. Maybe even their peak time in my opinion.

Voodoo 5:
Love Is Strong
You Got Me Rocking
Out Of Tears
I Go Wild
Thru and Thru

Babylon 7:
Flip The Switch
Anyone Seen My Baby?
Lowdown
Out Of Control
Saint Of Me
Thief In The Night
How Could I Stop

Btw i was one of the only one to vote for Steel Wheels on the last one and seems like im on the loosing side here too. eye rolling smiley

Both albums are equally mediocre, but if forced to choose the lesser of two evils probably Voodoo Lounge (aka Doodoo Lounge).

Two albums with some real clunkers (Gunface, Blinded By Rainbows). However, the best stuff on both albums are top notch (The Worst, Love Is Strong, How Can I Stop, Anybody Seen My Baby). B2B suffers from lack of good rockers, while VL has quite a few (LIS, YGMR, MD). The variety and the quality of the strongest tunes on B2B makes it a wee bit stronger, imo.

I like that. Because it made me think, are there really worse songs on BRIDGES than on VOODOO?

It made me cringe.

Might As Well Get Juiced, Always Suffering, Gunface: horrendously bad songs.

Yet the better songs are on BRIDGES: Flip The Switch, Lowdown, Keith's 3, Out Of Control.

VOODOO has Love Is Strong, The Worst, Out Of Tears, Baby Break It Down and Thru And Thru as, for me, the best songs, yet has You Got Me Rocking, Sparks Will Fly, New Faces and the cringe Sweethearts Together, which are flat out awful - but not as bad as the bad songs on BRIDGES.

VOODOO
Love Is Strong
The Worst
Moon Is Up
Out Of Tears
I Go Wild

Mean Disposition

BRIDGES
Flip The Switch
Anybody Seen My Baby

You Don't Have To Mean It
Out Of Control
Saint Of Me
Too Tight
Thief In The Night
How Can I Stop

BRIDGES is better.
