Probably the quietest year for concerts and concert trips I've had in decades. Other than Little Steven and Dylan/Young, no trips or overnight stays outside Belfast. I did have tickets to see Ryan Adams in Dublin in March, but ....well we all know what happened there.

Other than a couple of Tom Waits and Neil Young (x3) cover bands, the only gigs I went to were (off the top of my head)

John Cooper Clarke - Belfast
Rhiannon Giddens - Belfast
Nile Rodgers & Chic - Belfast
Van Morrison - Belfast
Bob Dylan/Neil Young/ Glen Hansard - Kilkenny
Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul - Dublin
Amanda St John - Belfast
Glen Hansard - Belfast
Tom Russell - Belfast

Only made it to six shows this year, but had front row center for three of them (Mason, Steely Dan, and Purple). Quality over quantity.

Mott the Hoople '74
Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets (twice)
Yes & Asia with John Lodge, Carl Palmer, and the Crazy World of Arthur Brown
Steely Dan
Deep Purple

Great list. I should have gone to Purple at the tower and keswick show with Mott

Last two years quietest gig years since 2004 or so. Dang.

This year only 4 shows:

Manic Street Preachers - Dublin (playing their 1998 album in full)
Manics again supporting Bon Jovi - Dublin

And last week -

The Darkness in both Cork and Dublin. Supremely entertaining live act. Great rock shows!

Apparently, we have similar tastes. I've somehow never gotten around to seeing Trower. Maybe one of these days. Btw, I see Burton Cummings is dropping hints about a major tour with Randy Bachman sometime in the new year. Could be very cool.

I forgot to add Tommy James and the Shondells to my short list which was free w/the price of admission to the Ventura County Fair.
I went in a bit skeptical, but left a true believer of Tommy and his band - they played all the great hits and sounded fantastic. Plus he came out in the crowd and gave my wife a big kiss on the cheek!

The last time I went to a concert was 2006 – the Stones at Saitama Arena.

Like roller skating and underage drinking, rock n’ roll shows are for young people, IMO.

Except that there are no young people at rock and roll shows anymore. At most of the shows I go to, the bands are in their seventies and the audience is in their sixties.

Young folks show up to see younger bands. Saw the extremely talented Twin Peaks last week, capacity at Sinclair Cambridge MA is 525. I'm guessing those over 50(includes myself) was less than 2% of the audience.
