Lots of talk regards possible special guests at Shepherds Bush. Will Rod Stewart or Mick Jagger turn up to support Ronnie? Rod and Mick never seem to be in the same room together. Rod turns up at some Ronnie things and Mick turns up at some Ronnie things. I cannot remember seeing Rod Stewart at any Stones shows. Is there some egos involved there do you reckon? Can anyone recall when they ever saw Rod at a Stones show?
Mick and Rod (and Keith and Rod) used to be on very friendly terms. That all changed in 1975. They are still at the same events sometime, but you'll not find any photos of them together that I'm aware of.
"We got a call about a fight disturbance over someone? Ronnie Woulds? Whatever, whoever it is, you guys get this one warning, alright? Let's take it easy tonight."

who wouldnt join the stones, ronnie did the right thing, and if rod is still harbouring a grudge he should grow up, ronnie got his dream job, why would anyone deny him that.
Rod and Ronnie were a team even if Rod's name was on the marquee or the LP sleeve. They wrote songs together. Ronnie may have done the right thing, but I can understand Rod feeling like the two guys they most looked up to and patterned themselves after came and pulled the support out from under him. Rod did fine with Jim Cregan (who is an excellent player and capable songwriter) as a replacement, but I can understand why he would still harbor resentment against Mick and Keith. He and Ronnie remained close, though I imagine they needed a bit of time to patch things up.
Rod covered street fighting man on an early LP. In his bio he says something like, 'I wondered what it would sound like if it was sung by a proper singer. ( only kidding)'
As an aside, having looked at Nico's site, it appears 1984 MTV Awards was Ronnie and Rod's first public appearance together since he joined the Stones. It really might have taken a bit to heal those wounds.
