8 of the gigs are "piggy-backed" with the dates on Green Day's tour, saving money I would presume...

i'm not planning on going but am curious to see what they come up with for Tommy Lee's "stunt". the last tours roller coaster drum kit was pretty wild. i've never been a huge fan but did enjoy the "farewell" show. i didn't plan on going but was in vegas over xmas & they happened to be playing. got a ticket for reasonable amount of money & had a good time. the struts opened & were quite good. i actually enjoy mick mars' guitar work (heavy jeff beck influence) & the band was actually pretty tight. vince neil not so much. he's been my problem with the band since the beginning. i actually like some of def leppard's stuff, too. that being said, not really into stadium shows unless its like the stones or u2.

I saw Motley Crue once back in 06, but I was mainly there for Aerosmith. MC put on a great show, but yeah Vince Neil really doesn’t have it anymore. Also, Tommy is an annoying loudmouth, and you can only hear him yell the F-word so many times before you just want to tell him to shut the F—-k up!!

If this tour was coming to Columbus or Cincinnati I’d go, but since it’s not, I won’t be going. I never really figured their farewell tour would be their last, especially with the renewed interest as of late.

So this is weird...Nikki had to this to say about the Black Crowes manager spilling the tour details early on the Howard Stern Show:

When Variety asked Sixx how MÖTLEY CRÜE would have liked to have made the announcement, the bassist responded: "We would have announced it here [at the December 4 event], the way it should have been." He then added sarcastically: "It was announced by THE BLACK CROWES manager, which I heard their tour was just canceled and he got fired, unfortunately, but that doesn't affect our stadium tour."

Crowes tour canceled?? I don't think so...I guess he's just throwing shade.

Mötley Crüe on Summer Tour With Def Leppard, Poison: ‘We Missed Being in a Band Together’

“There is a lot of people that still think of the Eighties as a mockable decade,” Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott says at press conference. “And we’re about to prove that it’s not”

Nice to see the ghost of Michael Jackson turned up for the photo op (second from the right in the back row).

As Bret has said in concert, stage 4 cancer survivor Rikki Rocket! Man Mick Mars doesn't look too good. I doubt he'll be moving around much on stage. I'm surprised there are no Canadian shows, thought Vancouver might be iffy but at least they'd play Toronto.

I'm sure our friends in BC will be most welcome in Seattle.

Saw the "final tour" already. Thought Alice Cooper was better.

Looking at the photo, the only ones who are recognizable from the 80's are Rick Allen, Ricki Rockett

Mick (Mars) has had several health issues over the years. He really looks rough.

Mick has ankylosing spondylitis...his spine is basically fusing together. It's a horrible condition.

I'd say Phil Collen is the one that's the most recognisable.

As someone who suffers with something pretty similar, it's a miracle he's able to do what he does. I like his guitar playing, too. I've been on chemo for a long time to try & slow the progression but it has stopped working. Doc is going to try something new but have to wait until late January so the old drug is out of my system. So, getting no benefit & immune system is fried. It's going to be a brutal couple of months. I'm in hiding. Back to Mick: more power to him. I hope he is getting the best of care (he should be) & maybe this tour will allow him to take it easy for the rest of his life.

All of these guys have more than enough money to retire. Why do they feel a need to continue touring when some of them are obviously not healthy. They are way past their prime and have been peddling their brand of swill on tour after tour for far too long. KISS too. Please do humanity a favor and retire already. Thank you.

Vince Neil: "I Just Mumble"

[lasvegasweekly.com]

We were doing a Universal Amphitheatre show, and we had an all-star band there. It was two nights, and at the end they were supposed to do "Jailhouse Rock." At the soundcheck, Vince Neil and Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe were there. They had closed with that for years. I asked Vince, "What's the words to ‘Jailhouse Rock'?" He said, "I don't know." "What do you mean, you don't know? It's been your encore for five years! How the hell do you sing it?" He told me, "I just mumble." Billy Idol speaks up and says, "I know the words." I said, "Then okay, tonight you do the words to it." Billy didn't know the words either, and it was a disaster.
