I think we all know that The Glimmers are notoriously unreliable when it comes to their public pronouncements about their work ... but perhaps there is a germ of truth in the sentiment above? Maybe he does honestly feel that because of the way the band works there is a LOT of downtime or unproductive noodling ... and that as a result any Beatles- or Dylan-like archive project would be hopeless?
