I love Neil's early rockers:

Cherry
Thank The Lord For The Nightime
You Got To Me
etc.

He should get a writing credit for R. O. C. K. in the USA and What I Like About You.

That I IV VII I (E-A-D-A) chord change is awesome.

Not to be annoying, Elmo, but E-A-D-A is not I IV VII I.

His original version of Red Red Wine is so much better than
UB40's.

Count me in among those who have no use for or need to hear Neil Diamond. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but his music does nothing for me. Happy for those who like him, only wish they could do it without me having to hear it.

As as an expat New Yorker living in Massachusetts, I cringe with all the Sweet Caroline stuff at Fenway. Not into saccharine.

If I was a Bostonian, I'd would embrace Dirty Water by the Standells as a much better anthem/tribute to my home town.

As is this 1969 rock steady/reggae version from Tony Tribe which was probably more the inspiration for UB40 than Neil Diamonds original:

Tony Tribe - Red Red Wine

UB40 had a way of diluting songs and making them very bland...
