IMHO even though I can't stand them, Depeche Mode are pretty influential too. A little more opinion on Trent Reznor: I seriously think he has taken it upon himself to take the torch from David Bowie. Last year's tour was stunning. I very rarely listen to soundtracks but the ones he has been putting out are excellent. Not just tossed off. A lot are probably aware but he even set Nashville on its ear again this year. The popular version of "Old Town Road" samples a track from "Ghosts" for its music bed. Of course the first time was writing the song that gave Johnny Cash his last big hit with "Hurt". The body of work is pretty vast & uniformly high quality.

Nine Inch Nails. Trent deserves to get in. Extremely influential & is still putting out vital new music constantly. & the touring band is stellar. He did himself a world of good in this regard with his speech inducting the Cure last year. He took it seriously & did a great job with it. Robert Smith had a few tears. There are some other worthy candidates for sure but NIN is the one I care about.

We seem to be running out of obvious candidates.
Judas and NIN aren't my cup of tea but were influential in their genres. Todd Rundgren, too.
The rest are so-so mainstream acts or niche bands. Oh, and rap, which doesn't belong.
