Must be one of the very few BC fans who wasn't crazy about the Page cooperation.

Sure I myself was unhappy when the gig I was supposed to see was canceled for Page's back problems and sure that Live at the Greek received some heavy rotation at my place back in the day.

That said, as a result of that tour the BCs sound become a little too heavy for my tastes. And that I did not like.

People here criticize the Bros or Chris for closing the door to a BC / Plant cooperation, but I think that that was the only whise decision to take (consider the role of the various 2nd guitarists that played with the Crowes and tell me how Page could have fitted in that slot!)

I lost interest in the Black Crowes after the excellent TSHAMC, not so much because of what they did, just because my interests went elsewhere.

I thought BY YOUR SIDE was great.

But when I heard the material they were doing with Jimmy Page, my ears perked up - what a perfect combination! If the Robinsons were tired of being in a cover band they picked the wrong cover band to be tired of being in - and for what? A year?

What a load. If that's true. To go out and play those Zeppelin songs with JIMMY PAGE? COME ON. That is just NUTS. They should've ridden that train all the way to the station, gotten off and said Thanks! That was a blast! and moved on.

But nooooo. They had to be dicks.

Chris & Rich Robinson confirmed the reunion and 2020 tour this morning on the Howard Stern Show. They're playing the Bowery Ballroom in NYC tonight.

Well said. Chris even said he wasn't a fan of singing in Robert Plant's vocal style, and that he didn't like Plant's lyrics.

Then why in the @#$%& would you tour as Jimmy Page's backing band? Obviously, for the money, but to be such an unmitigated dick about the whole thing blows my mind.

Eh, I think I'll pass.

The Crowes are a solid rock'n'roll band and I like a lot of their material, but I've seen them twice...that's enough.

Furthermore, this reunion is only the Robinson brothers with a bunch of hired guns. It's hard to get excited about it.

The prices are bad enough given the band's pedigree. I mean, how big were these guys really in their prime??

I remember seeing and hearing them around as a teenager in the '90s, but they were always viewed as a "oh look, they're a throwback to the '70s" retro act. Lots of good songs, but they were sneered at for posing too much...not to the degree of Greta Van Fleet, but close.

One of my favorite DVD's I watch at least once a month.

The band finally regrouped in early 2005, with the Robinson brothers joined by former bandmates Eddie Harsch, Marc Ford, Sven Pipien, and Steve Gorman for a series of live dates that boasted long, energetic two-set performances. FREAK 'N' ROLL INTO THE FOG captures the Black Crowes during their one-night-stand at the San Francisco Fillmore in August 2005, delivering jammed-out renditions of hits like "She Talks to Angels," "Jealous Again," "Remedy," and "Hard to Handle."

Man, this “reunion” turned out to be as tawdry as Gorman warned. The Stern interview was painful. I’ll be interested to see if they can actually fill the sheds next summer. Maybe the market will be a lot stronger for them as they promise not to jam and play the “hits.” Whatever. I can’t see myself bothering to go.

These are standard Live Nation prices but remember, the last several years every May they would have "National Concert Week" with loads of all-in $20 tickets. Seems like this tour was booked with selling beer and nachos in mind.

I never thought I’d live to see the day Chris Robinson made himself personally available for VIP meet-and-greet. I don’t think it’s too harsh to call out the hypocrisy; the anticorporate posture was very much his, not mine.

... nothing remarkable happened on Stern. The whole thing just felt forced and perfunctory and anticlimactic. Imagine how financially boxed-in Chris Robinson must be to explicitly promise not to jam and play the hits. And he claimed that his demand for a bigger share of the pie was an oblique way of breaking up the band. He didn’t really mean it. LOL.

no new music but since 2014 the 2 brothers have released like 10 studio albums, 2 EPs and 3 live albums. how much more material do you want from these guys?

In fairness, I think the tickets are well-priced, even the VIP packages.

Tickets are well priced given what the current market is. I honestly couldn't have seen them charging less. The word "reunion" automatically means a $100 concert ticket these days and its not like they went GNR levels (cause they couldn't) in charging $250-$300 a ticket.

The question will be is there actually a draw for this, as I feel like most reunions haven't really been this blatant and begging for an audience. With GNR's reunion, it leaked in drabs and when finally announced gained a lot of traction, as expected given their level, but this one seems like they really want you to know about it. Getting Livenation to email you about the Black Crowes reunion screams of desperation, but I'm sure it might sell some tickets. Not surprised its forced at all. That had been heard and what you expect these days from artists.

I just think even beyond how they might act, the promotional method seems so desperate. Rage Against The Machine just recently reunited, My Chemical Romance is reuniting for some shows next year, but they are all things you pick up and hear about from different venues. I haven't seen a "press conference" which is what I'd consider the Stern thing to be as a platform for the announcement and then a bombardment of emails regarding it. In all honesty, it makes sense, I just feel like I haven't seen that many bands recently be so blatant about it. Its almost as if they're aware no one cares about the Black Crowes name in 2019 so they need to get the word out, whereas guys like Rage or GNR know that once word spreads there will be demand. I hope for their fans at least they put on a good show. GNR was underwhelming in many ways, but satisfying for a longtime fan and the general public and for the people that actually love this band I hope they get an ending that at least satisfies them, which is hard to do in this day and age when its all so commercialized.

I just checked out tickets for the Hartford show, and there were a TON available. Not exactly flying off the shelves yet.

Pretty interesting honestly...

Not for what they are charging for a decent seat they aren’t. This is a sham, joke major cash grab. They can’t stand each other and are having none of the other band member on board. This is like mick and Keith hiring people we have never heard off, calling themselves The Rolling Stones and charging double and triple of what they charged as the actual Rolling Stones before. Tickets on the ground. This is everything Chris has been against his whole performing life, but hey, price is right and we don’t have to pay no names more than $200 a night.
