Dylan's band from 1984 Europe Tour was not that bad LOL

Europe Tour. Bob Dylan (vocal & guitar), Mick Taylor (guitar), Ian McLagan (keyboards), Greg Sutton (bass), Colin Allen (drums).

I just edited my previous post, lol. I think that Dylan was the weakest link in 1984, but he filled the stadiums.

surely took toured with the wrong band in 1984. The tour could have (and should have) sounded like this: [www.youtube.com] (the show begins at 19:23
Licence To Kill and Jokerman are without any doubt the best performances of these two songs!

"What’s wonderful about the lyrics is all these characters that
he inveighs on our imagination. Famous people surrealistically
appear, some of them mythical and some of them real. The Phantom
of the Opera. Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot. Cinderella. Bette Davis...Cain and Abel . . .

Someone said that 'Desolation Row' is Dylan’s version of 'The Waste Land.'
I'm not sure if that's true, but it's a wonderful collection of imagery – a fantasy Bowery – that really gets your imagination working."

I'm not sure I've ever seen it acknowledged in print but in "It Hurts Me Too" on JAMMING WITH EDWARD, Jagger sings a verse from Dylan's "Pledging My Time".

Pledging My Time ….Mr Zimmerman built it
on chassis of Elmore James' - It Hurts Me Too …….

What is he singing? I think he changed some lyrics, but they're hard to understand.

i'm sure i'm just getting cranky in my old age but i can't even listen to brown sugar anymore. i'm not big on going back in time and applying current 'woke' attitudes to historical artifacts. but, that being said ... i've definitely reached that point in my journey when hearing a joyous yeah yeah yeah whoo in a song about the slave trade is just a bit much. was there EVER a time when it was dope to celebrate a scarred old slaver whippin the women just around midnight? apparently there was ... but as i'm confronted day after day with the endemic racism of my sweet lil country that day has certainly passed for me.
