These are Mick Jagger's handwritten liner notes for LET IT BLEED. I know they aren't studio pics but I thought it was a cool find to post here. smiling smiley

This is interesting.
First off he has Bill Wyman on autoharp on "Let it Bleed" too.
On "Live with Me" I thought it had been Leon Russell on piano.
And I see that on "Rambler" Mick had originally listed 'Drums by Charlie and Brian" before changing it to "Percussion - Brian". So I wonder if we may be hearing Brian more prominently in the mix w/o realizing it.

Bill Wyman did play autoharp on "Let It Bleed." Those pinging sounds you hear in the background in the first minute of the song is him.

I think Nicky Hopkins and Leon Russell played piano on "Live With Me."

Brian plays something called the tribal drum on "Midnight Rambler." Which is why I think Mick originally was going to put his name for a drum credit, but changed it to percussion. You can can hear Brian during the songs breakdown. "Well you heard about the Boston...BANG."

As in LSTNT, in WLY there's a aditional cymbal, so Paul was playing with Charlie in the fills on the end?

Ride On Baby is from the December 1965 "Could You Walk On The Water / Aftermath" sessions. I think this pic is from 1966 (August at RCA ?) so they could be recording Yesterday's Papers which has both those instruments.

Recording "Gimme Shelter" with Bonnie Bramlett.

Bonnie felt her voice wasn't up to it on the day so her contribution wasn't used.

Such great shots; great combination of artists. But - at the end of the day, nothing was released with Bonnie singing on it, right?

It's possible that they only rehearsed and didn't actually record, either way, nothing has so far surfaced.

I believe this is one of several pics from an interview, where they posed for the photographer, rather than doing any recording. I've seen a few of these in colours, but can't remember in which magazine.

Fascinating...I see Nanette Newman is on Country Honk! Don't believe I've ever seen this before.

It is fascinating. And as we know, Jagger makes mistakes too. Like Bill Wyman has pointed out on Exile there are a few mistakes too re. Bass tracks. But in a chaotic setting, different studios, songs recorded over the span of a few years, there can be so many variables. I can see there being confusion.

It's obviously staged. I mean Keef and Mick in the same recording room during the B2B sessions? Never happened once, man! grinning smiley
