hampden park glasgow, 1990, july

set list was 5 steel wheels songs

the usual warhorses

and 2000 light years and harlem shuffle i think.

23 songs in total and keith cut his finger, i think they postponed their next concert at wembley, but im no sure.

great to see them as i never ever thought i would when i discovered the stones.

wouldnt say it was a great concert though, but it was good enough, seen them in better form since and in better venues.

Maybe you want to adjust the topic to Your 1st Stones Concert or similar.

(West-)Berlin June 6, 1990. Around 60 DM (ca. 31 Euro or 35 $). Both the best (my enthusiasm) and worst (all the rest) show I visited. Two months and two weeks later they played two other concerts in the same city, but another country and it was even cheaper (= concerts for the GDR citicens).

July 4, 1972 in Washington D.C. RFK Stadium.
Sat on Dugout
I don't remember the cost but at MSG for Mick's birthday show
it was 15.00 U.S. dollars.
But you had to Buy 4. If you win the chance
by sending in a zillion postcards to a radio station.
Which, I did.

I had no problem selling the other 3.
We had Excellent floor seats.
Pretty good show.
As is SPECTACULAR and feverishly Uplifting.
Just incredible really.
They OPEN with Brown Sugar....Smack!!!
No pun intended; the Impact was Major and Visceral.
Let's remember, there was no, as in zero, special staging
at all. Didn't matter. The stage lighting was pro...
you see some of that in the L&G footage ....nothing
out of the ordinary though .
The passion, drive and Wallop is what I'm attempting to
feebly account for. This was the Biggest Bang yet, imo,
EVER, EVER, EVER in the outrageous soul filled
Bump, thump, pump, scratch and humpety hump
World of rock and roll.
Little Richard , Ike and Tina, dare I suggest
Even The King vocalist himself....also at msg in 72...
70 minutes including encore I think....
More than enough. It was impeccable raggedyass tight
And beautiful,

Stevie and Wonderlove were also amazing.

The NY show I was blessed to experience to this day
remains the most holy best rock and roll show ever...
...and in the 60's when I was a teenager,
(I turned 21 between these two show),
I had grand access to many historic greats ...

I was to see the Stones MSG opener in 1975.

July 30, 2003, Toronto Rocks (SarsStock). I can’t say that I “saw” the Stones as I was so far back that the curvature of the earth made that impossible, but the sound and the screens almost made up for that and I’ve been making up for lost time ever since.

1. Start Me Up
2. Brown Sugar
3.You Got Me Rocking
4. Tumbling Dice
5. Don't Stop
6. Ruby Tuesday
7. You Can't Always Get What You Want
8. It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)
9. Miss You (with Justin Timberlake
10. The Nearness of You
11. Happy
12. Sympathy for the Devil
13. Rock Me Baby (with Malcolm & Angus Young from AC/DC)
14. Honky Tonk Women

I'm sure it was great being there, but reading that setlist is capital punishment. YGMR, Don't Stop, Timberlake, Acdc all within 16 numbers. Ruby Tuesday looks like a mistake in there

I think the venue comes first, performance second and setlist third. If you're out there on a field half a kilometer from stage the setlist doesn't really matter. Was SARS a free concert by the way?

I seem to remember $20. Might not have been the best setlist, but it was a glorious day, with a huge range of artists and good company. And it lit the fuse...

Of course, STG. With a free entrance there wouldn't have been any money left for the charity...

Old and sadly missed Wembley Stadium, 24th August 1990. £23.50 GBP, about £54 at 2019 prices grinning smiley

Setlist here. I always thought they played Angie that night but it seems not

This show was postponed by 6 weeks as a result of Keith cutting his finger in Glasgow as described by buttons above. Great able very polished show, using the Steel Wheels stage for the purpose of the ‘Live at the Max’ tour film. Much of my show ended up in the film and of course it was Bill’s 2nd last show ever.

I remember going along and savouring every second, thinking it would be my only ever show....

My first was on the Voodoo Lounge tour at London Wembley stadium in the summer of 1995. Black Crowes (Amorica era) supporting. I was 18 and my girl and I were out of our heads on speed. You can Google the set list, but I think they opened with Not Fade Away

Does anyone know how much those tickets cost? We were in the general standing area, pretty close to the stage.

The whole VL tour opened with Not Fade Away. I was at that show too, only my 3rd ever. July 16th 1995. The Black Crowds had to stop after about 4 songs because the rain was messing up the stage electrics. Tickets for floor standing were about £25 each. Even on BtB they were still only about £30. After that it just went totally bonkers sad smiley That's why I've Lucky Dipped 12 of my last 15 shows winking smiley

We were at the front of the crowd and this was the day that people tossed their shoes on stage. I kept mine because I didn't want to drive home barefoot.
The Outlaws and Peter Tosh opened. It was a really hot day with a long time between sets. Absolutely worth the effort though!
The ticket cost $12.50, $14 including the Ticketron fee. I remember when I was waiting in line to buy a ticket and thinking this would probably be the last chance I would get to see them. eye popping smiley

Perth The WACA (WA Cricket Association Ground) Feb 24, 1973 - first date with my (still) wife. At the then princely sum of A$7.50 a ticket I am glad she's turned out to be a keeper!!!!

I was earning $22 a week then, running a car - living at home with parents!

As excited as I was to see/hear them, standing only about 30 feet from the stage (the wife had to stand on filled cans of Coca Cola as being 4' 10" tall she couldn't otherwise see over the crowd), I remember vividly to this day they were merely great UNTIL they started You Can't Always Get What you Want, but OUT OF THIS WORLD, ridiculously, colossally sublime from YCAGWYW to the end....clocked in at just over 1 hr 5 mins from recall. They played f-a-s-t in those days! As did I...

Love in Vain
Sweet Virginia
