MICKS THE BEST BECAUSE HE PERFORMS WITH THE STONES AND CREATED MUSIC WITH KEITH.

The bigger question is what would happen if Keith didn't exist, i honestly think the world would be a more boring place had neither of them met on that train station, would we be the same people we are today in a universe without the Stones. The fact that they continue just adds to the magic, it's almost unreal at this stage, the odds of this being reality at all is becoming highly unlikely on many levels.

The Rolling Stones did not come in to existence when they met again. It took Brian, Mick and Keith meeting for that identifiable entity to be born.

Maybe it was someone else. Brain Jones is or was the head and founder of The Rolling Stones. There is only one Mick Jagger, just like I'm me and you are you. No more than that. And questions like IF,IF,IF are endless!

I'm a big fan of Brian, but the story is different, Brian chose the name of the band, but Mick and Keith had known each other since before Brian. They were looking for a guitarist and saw Brian playing the slide and they were impressed. The Stones still didn't exist yet ... but as you can see things are more complex.

The name of this thread suggests a way more thought provoking premise than the actual thread itself.
When I first saw it I thought “ of course, it’s a play on the Voltaire line- “ if god didn’t exist “

The answer is of course Mick is the best to ever do it and it’s not even close and when he’s gone, it’s over.

The only guys in his league are -

Elvis
Robert Plant
Freddie Mercury
Roger Daltrey

None of them are even close to being Mick Jagger. Can you imagine Merc trying to do Dead Flowers or Plant attempting Wild Horses?
Daltrey taking a crack at Paint it Black or Elvis doing Street Fighting Man?
It’s laughable- the sheer range of this fckng guys vocal delivery, the style, grace and absolutely phenomenal professionalism of his every step is just beyond comprehension,
And he actually co-wrote those amazing songs,which just makes it ...ridiculous.
So to answer the question- If there were no Mick Jagger the world would be a much lesser place. He won’t be here forever so enjoy it because you won’t live long enough to see another one like him.

I’ve always been a Keith head, but no Jagger = No Stones for me.

He kept it together while Keith was in space, and had has learned to live with the whole thing in its current form since 89. Jaggers voice and energy for his age are truly amazing. It almost pisses me off to think what he could do if he stood on the same spot while performing, what other songs could he sing if his energy wasn’t used running from side of stage to front of stage. Like Keith said once, he can work a small place better than anyone. A table top of he had to.

No Jagger = No let it Loose, No Harp on Gimmmie Shelter and a hundred other things he did that are uniquely Jagger for me. Also I think underrated as a lyricist and songwriter.

And the man truly loves the blues.

Shirley would be breeding pygmy goats in the Yucaton.
Sir Keith Richards, Rod Stewart's guitarist would be knighted for his anti drug messages to kids,

Let me give it to you straight. That baggy-eyed abuser of women had the insanely good fortune of meeting Mick and Keith…and he still managed to f*ck up his life. End of story.

Back on topic...If Mick hadn’t been born I probably wouldn’t have a tattoo of a tongue on my back. Maybe I would’ve bought more K-tel compilation albums – they were awesome. You could get Alice Cooper, Kiss, Gary Wright, the Doobie Brothers and Boz Scaggs all on the same record. Anyways, with or without Mick Jagger, bands keep playing across the universe.

In an alternative reality where Mick wasn't born then I think the very talented Brian Jones would still have formed a band around himself. It might have enjoyed some success (Keith wouldn't feature as he was a friend of Micks). Probably like so many 60s bands it would then fade into obscurity. What would have been Brian Jones' fate in this alternative timeline? he might still be around.
