DORIAN .....Blow me ! Well if you are a girl anyway

It's not Dory-Anne, it's Dorian, most certainly a boy's name.

As in "Dorian Gray".

The New Orleans show was scheduled for Sunday evening, while the Hurricane Barry at that stage was estimated to arrive the day BEFORE i.e. Saturday morning at 6am. Also, there had been a major flooding in NOLA ewarlier that week, so the city was busy repairing damages already. They moved the show so that The Rolling Stones would not be performing in what counds have been a flooded "after landfall" situation.

The Miami show is Saturday evening. Most forecasts are for a landfall the same day, i.e. Saturday, slightly north, like Orlando. Unless the winds and rains are crazy, they might do the show, but fans flying out the day after the show might have issues with their flights if the MIA and FLL airports shut down services, like they did in New Orleans from Friday 12h before estimated landfall, and for some 24 hours.

I'm in Coral Springs, about 29 miles north of Hard Rock Stadium. So far, it's business as usual. No ones racing to Home Depot... No lines at the gas stations...

The view out my window:

When reading forecast graphs keep in mind they are outdated within 12 hours, so read the date and the time stamp under the graph, and make you read live graphs, not old screen dumps. Still, reading series of graphs with different time/date stamps will help understand how these paths and estimates are changing.

Right now it seems like Miami will be in the wet and windy shadow some time Sat to Sunday, and that Orlando, which is further north in Florida, will be in the eye of a Category 3 storm.

Miami Sun Sentenial news updates today Wednesday:

Rolling Stones keep an eye on Hurricane Dorian before final concert Saturday at Hard Rock Stadium

Dorian is now a hurricane and forecast to hit Florida as a Category 3 storm

Are you in Miami yet BV?

Yes, it's best to be able to be flexible as to flying in or out of Florida. We have a home on the Gulf Coast side. Cape Coral. It's a suburb of Fort Myers and it has an international airport. The code is RSW. It's approximately 150 miles west of Miami. May be a good option in or or out for those of you who are flying.
A cat3 hurricane is serious business. Don't underestimate the weather. If you find yourself stuck due to Dorian? Do the following:
1. Fuel up your car, if driving. If power is lost, no pumps will work. (Florida may run out of gas as well)
2. Get some CASH from an ATM. If power goes out you can't use your credit cards. Get enough to pay for gas and necessities for 3-5 days. I'd get $500 to $1000.00
3. Get enough water for at LEAST 3 days. I'd get enough for 5 days.
4. Get external battery chargers for your phone's and tablets. It's basically an external battery you can use to charge up your phone or tablet. They are inexpensive around $10-20. I'd recommend a Morphie model. You can charge two devices at once and it has the ability to charge your phone a couple of times. They are approximately $50-$100 depending on where you buy them. They are sold in airports or at Best Buy.A battery or crank powered radio or flashlight is handy to have.
5.Most importantly, find SHELTER. In Cape Coral they opened the high schools and public libraries.
6. Make sure you have extra medication should you find yourself stranded.
7. Get a cooler and ice if you need to refrigerate anything.
8.Look out for each other. If you see someone without food, water or shelter? Do what you can to help your fellow human being.

Hopefully, Keith is furiously waving his weather stick and you all get a great show to close out the tour.

Here is the best site there is for hurricane tracking. He also has a Facebook page, Mike's weather Page.

The bullseye keeps making landfall near me around Cocoa, not good. I've evacuated twice in the last 4 years. I always have a couple plans. Latest one is cancel hotel for Saturday by 12:01am Friday. Drive down to the concert, drive right back, deal with the Hurricane. You gotta be flexible.

Very reliable inside sources say that question is being debated right now. Unclear when a decision will be made but it sounds like tomorrow.

I am going to posit a guess we get a Monday show. Mick's not giving up all that revenue.

Insurance will pay out in full. Reschedule will be less profit

Good point Jump. Could be that's what BV was hinting at when he said more likely to cancel than reschedule. I can't see it going forward as scheduled Saturday night unless track changes overnight which it easily could. Also can't believe they would end the tour/this leg of the tour on a cancellation. But then again, who knows!

Explain. Where is it supposed to land now ?

But that's just ticket revenue...

Insurance wouldn't pay for lost revenue from merchandise, concessions, etc that surely the band would get a sizable chunk of.

It's not likely to be a direct hit to south florida, but its now tracking to make landfall closer to south florida than was earlier projected

If they want to be really safe, they should consider having it the night before on Fri instead. I bet they could get the stage done early if they tried. But would there be enough time to get the word out?

Friday is the best move. We could all get in and out before the storm. I know this would be costly and inconvenient for many people but it’s better than not having a show at all.

Talk to the locals. I used to live in Florida, and long-term residents can read those maps/charts as well as any forecaster.

I called a surfer dude I know if he wanted to do a Stones Concert run.
No.
Tells me he needs and can't get sandbags in Brevard County- check online, Emergency Management FB page says go to Home Depot.
But ALL the surrounding and inland counties have free sandbags WTF!!!

Let's say they do the show, and a huge gust of wind topples the stage...
... At least I can say I died happy, at a Stones gig.

The projection via the weather channel of a Monday pm northern fla. landfall shouldn't impact a Saturday night show. Heck the Miami Saturday night weather forecast is still only showing a 40% chance of rain with scattered showers which is just normal Florida weather in August so who knows!

I live up close to Kennedy Space Center, it is forecast now to come in around Titusville overnight Sunday or early Monday morning. The might be able to do the show on Saturday, if they don't it might be cancelled, Miami doesn't have a domed stadium so it could flood. We'll know more by Friday.
