The whole roof does not open; I think the opening is about the size of the field.

Roof is closed. The city is a-buzz with the Stones! Radio stations playing nothing but Stones. Talked to lots of hotel staff this weekend who are going. Signs on the freeway say, “Hey, hey, you, you, get off of your phone”!

I was at the show in 97. Although it did not affect the event I remember a fire behind the stage outside the stadium when the show was over. I thought the crowd was a bore compared to NY and NJ. I don't have my setlist collection handy but I remember them doing Star Star and people looking like "what did he just say?"

We gotta fire this place up tonight.

the fire was during "sympathy". this was the old days when the south bleachers were still like they were in the movie. a flare set the one of the balloons on fire. if you know to look, for the rest of the tour they only had one inflatable girl balloon after tempe. when the fire first started i thought "no big deal, they use flares, they must have fire exstinguishers." they didn't. that fire started to get really big and it looked like they would have to abandon the stage during "tumblin'dice". but the tempe fire department (two blocks away) showed up and put the fire out. it was their most 'spinal tap' moment ever.

6PM. Waiting in the tunnel. Heading for Pit1. Hope to see some of you there!
