No .... Sony Music cares about its money (bought the PF catalogue in 2024 for $400 million).

Whatever gets more live recordings of them out there is fine by me. They've had 50 years to release some great 70s recordings and we've basically only gotten a full Dark Side show (with a great first set and encore as well), The Wall and a The Man And The Journey show as part of their early years box set. I'd love some Wish You Were Here Tour, Animals, and particularly the years from Atom Heart Mother to Meddle.

Isn't this contained in the 'Wish You Were Here 50' - [www.Qobuz.com] ?

You're right, I guess I had it conflated in my head. That is the Wish You Were Here tour but honestly it was so similar to the tour the previous year which had been released that I kinda thought there was a separate Wish You Were Here tour. Seems I'm thinking about the Animals tour where they did that album and then WYWH in full, which feels substantially more different than 74/75.

The only real differences from 74 to 75 is they now play the album versions of Shine On (as opposed to in 74 where its one big chunk that's still a work in progress) and they added Have A Cigar to the set. I guess it felt like since 74 was already released in previous years that 75 had pretty much already been covered. Looks like I'm looking for 71, 72 and 77 shows.

There is an excellent quality bootleg from the Animals tour.

I have had California Stockyard since the late 70's.

If I remember it is also available as a download on Wolfgangs vault.

Pre Dark Side of the Moon would be the BBC bootleg I have. It has a great version of Fat Old Sun.

June 28, 1975, Ivor Wynne Stadium, Hamilton Ontario, Canada, has got to be one of the greatest mid-70s Floyd shows, with great sounding audio, and plenty of 8mm audience film footage to boot.

There's also an audience bootleg matrix 'quad' mix from MSG NYC 1977, capturing the rear speakers as well, that's quite good.

I have some good boots from the Animals tour, but I just know they haven't officially released any. And that Wynne show is very good, though its been awhile since I listened. But yeah, the same set as 74 and 75 for the most part. Official releases of 77 would be cool, and then 71 or 72 cause that's a very different show than their "famous" era.

Is there much - if anything - live material from the Barrett era circulating? Or, even better, that very, very brief period with both Barrett and Gilmour?

From 1971 and 1972 there were copyright-releases some years ago - [iorr.org] , [iorr.org] . They're still circulating in the depths of the Internet. In the Spotify links you can see at least the track names and running times.

That would be cool.. might sound a bit like the Bowie Friar’s Club show, rough but a fun glance into the past

I look forward to hearing the LA 75 show, because it is within my favorite era of the band's music (1970-1977). I like the early stuff as well, but with the exception(s) of a few tracks appearing on the Wall, the post-Animals Pink Floyd catalogue is not my cup of tea. I bought the Wall the day it was released in 1979 and after a couple years, its dreariness and unhappiness began to drown out the joy that listening to its music would bring. It is a true masterpiece, but I just don't like it anymore. I never liked Final Cut or any of Roger's solo stuff, and while I wouldn't change the station if the latter-day 1987 or 1994 LPs came on the radio, the LP copies in my collection remain sealed. One exception is Endless River, which I find to be fabulous. Who knows, but thanks to all on this thread for sharing. The Floyd is among my top 5 bands, so it is awesome to hear y'all weigh in on Floyd topics.

I too am looking forward to the '75 LA show... but I also love the dark, psychologically depressing Roger Waters era material, including The Wall and The Final Cut. TFC is raw, without the signature keyboards, but it adds to its poignancy, I think. I read somewhere that Roger's Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking album, which is also raw and dark, was offered to the band as a Pink Floyd project, and the band opted for The Wall. Not sure if that's true or not, but I love Pros and Cons also... None of the PF material after Roger left ever moved me much-- It all just sounded more like soundscapes and less meaningful. None of it is bad, but it just doesn't sound like PF to me.

Totally agree with you on post Waters Floyd. I don't hate it, I just get nothing from it.

You're correct on Pros and Cons. He offered that and The Wall and they chose the Wall. I do think Pros and Cons is a bit underrated, strengthened by Clapton's presence. The Wall they made work but it is essentially also solo Roger Waters. The Final Cut is too, but what makes it stand out to me more than other Waters solo material is its more musical. There's hints of Gilmour (when Waters let him) and overall its more a musical album than his more spoken word solo stuff.

I've always liked The Final Cut but to me that and The Wall are pure Waters solo stuff. To me, there's 5 eras of Floyd:

-Syd Barrett era (1966-1968): The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn & A Saucerful Of Secrets

-Post Barrett-pre Dark Side (1969-1972): More, Ummagumma, Atom Heart Mother, Meddle, & Obscured By Clouds (experimentation that was a true group effort, and they weren't badgered yet by success. Real freedom)

-Dark Side, Wish You Were Here and Animals (most would put the Wall in here too) (1973-1977) (similar to the Stones Beggars - Bleed - Fingers - Exile run)

-The Wall and The Final Cut (1979-1983) (its Pink Floyd in name only but Roger had fully taken over)

-Post Waters (1987-1995): Momentary Lapse Of Reason & The Division Bell

Rolling Freak, incredibly well said, as I have never seen one characterize it that well.

I already have the Immersion set so the 2 cd will do for me. Never did like audience recordings anyway. I’m sure Wilson did the best he could but as they say, you can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig (pun intended).

Does anyone have a Bluray audio rip of the 75 show? I would love to be proven wrong on what can be done with an old audience recording before forking over the dough.

It's available in 96kHz/24bit on e.g. [www.Qobuz.com] , [www.HDtracks.com] , [www.HighResAudio.com] .

I know, but I would like to listen to it on my vintage hi-fi system and it's not set up for streaming. I can only play digital files via the RCA/AUX input. I'm old school.

My links above are not for streaming, but for file download. You could try to burn a BD-RE or DVD-RW with a 96kHz/24bit test file if your BR-Player has no input for a USB memory stick.

I get it. I just wanted to listen on my hi-fi before I decided to buy. It’s what these old ears are trained for. Thanks.
