I saw this show pre-pandemic at the Wiltern in L.A. - great stuff, but thinking once might have been enough...

I wouldn't mind going again, but the nearest shows (Cincinnati, Akron and Chicago) would all require a 4-hour drive in the dead of winter. Akron Civic is a particularly nice 3,000 seater, as well as being the site of a 1972 DSOTM Pink Floyd concert. And I know a good Italian restaurant in Akron, so it's .... tempting.

Maybe I'll wait until April when Little Feat is playing there. grinning smiley

On YouTube I came over, what I never had been aware of:

Syd Barrett: "Bob Dylan Blues".

I was so much charmed!

The tickets are quite expensive (same with Steve Hackett). I'm going to wait until closer to the show & see where the finances are.

There're more 2022 Tour-Dates now - [www.TheSaucerfulOfSecrets.com] - Ticket-prices are e.g. €65-84 for Ireland or Germany.

When I saw Mason in 2019, ticket prices were slashed dramatically in the days leading up to the concert. I picked up a front row seat in Detroit for $110 just a week before the show. The previous day, they had been asking $447 for that same seat.

I might be able to catch a Europe show assuming the Stones book their tour. I have seats for Croydon UK in May but won't be going since I am bailing on Clapton. Already have Oakland and Sacramento in February...

Far out. I had no idea Pink Floyd was even on tour. This pandemic has really thrown me off.

Nick Mason is a great concert. They play the older era of songs and they do a great job of it.

The shows do not have the elaborate stage set up of Roger Waters but it is a great gig if you like their older music.

Could be interesting - or not. I have some boots somewhere from that period (not great audio quality), the way I remember the setlists did not change much. I have about 25 min of the Tokyo gig, would be interesting to hear the full version!

Halloween, 1971 I was a young lad and PINK FLOYD performed at the University of Toledo (Ohio) just six blocks from my house. I went. I even recorded it but the recording came out horribly. Fortunately, someone else there that night made a better recording of the show. THAT version has found its way into collectors hands over the years but is not in this cache of live shows the band has recently issued to streaming services. Weirdly enough 'FLOYD performed in nearby Ann Arbor, Detroit and Saginaw in the days before the Toledo show but I've never found recordings of any of them. Saginaw would have been the furthest drive (maybe 90 minutes) if we'd followed bands in those days.

There ARE several excellent shows in this new group recorded either just before or just after the one I was fortunate to witness. All are better quality than mine (or the other Toledo taper) and show where the band was at in those days. These recordings aren't of professional standard but most of them are pretty good. The songs "Echoes" and "One of these Days" were performed but wouldn't find their way to record until the Meddle album was issued the following year.

From a Pink Floyd bootleg expert on a Pink Floyd fan site:

"It's a copyright dump and available on most streaming services".

And:

"I really don't understand how people can be excited about Pink Floyd "releasing" shitty quality bootlegs,
let alone paying for them when better quality recordings have long been available. For free".

All of the recordings are copyrighted to Pink Floyd Music Ltd., suggesting these are official releases from the band.

To suggest they are fan recordings is idiotic.

Thanks daspy for clarifying - Pink Floyd is doing a copyright dump, and in the process taking a dump on the unsuspecting/naive fans.

A few quotes from that thread:

"To me audience recordings = crap sound".

"...as a copyright dump I find it interesting that the band are willing to stick up some really lo-fi recordings with original bootleg artwork"

"So Pink Floyd Records are now streaming/selling bootleg recordings. Why do I doubt that they bothered to track down the best sources".

"They look very unofficial".

"These are garbage, i.e. inferior versions of shows that have circulated for years. Don't waste your time or money on them".

"They are not claiming the copyright. The copyright was theirs all along by law. It is their performance, illegitimately taped.
And what is on that tape automatically falls under their copyright, so they don’t have to do anything to the sound in order to own the rights".

"I have a feeling that they will be short-lived and pulled as soon as they can be, released for a limited time just to protect the copyrights.
It's been done before. It would be a shame if these poor recordings represented the band's legacy for any length of time".

And on and on................

For those who still think this is "huge", knock yourself out, but might want to reassess that opinion as there is better quality available elsewhere.
