Early Crowes of course. Primal Scream on the "Give out but don't give up" album (and often afterwards)

But IMO the band that really gets the swagger right, is the Novaks. Check out their first album; the red one. Excellent album.

I find that it is not rock acts who manage to sound like Faces/Stones because when those two were at their best they were usually playing a lot of Country and Soul. So, when I'm listening to Steve Earle e.g. it reminds me a lot of the Stones.

Saw The Quireboys in a small club last year. Spike's voice was gone. Shot.

They must be in their late 50s, though, but they're still rocking.

Not a new band at all, but I re-heard the Dandy Warhols 'Bohemian Like You' yesterday, and was shocked at what a Brown Sugar (etc) rip off it is.

I mean, I think it's a cool song, but I cannot believe the Stones' sweaty-palmed lawyers didn't get involved with a demand.

funny you mentioned quireboys because that was the first band I thought of when I saw your thread. there is another band from that time frame that had a similar sound but I can't recall the name right now. I'd have to look through my collection when I get home. one band i could be thinking of is dogs d'amour. tyla from this band has worked with spike from the quireboys

The intro of Let's See Action by The Who sounded a lot like Stones courtesy of Nicky Hopkins

Izzy Stradlin and the Ju Ju Hounds. I remember when his album came out with Shuffle It All, a review said something to the effect of the best Keith Richards solo album.
I remember the Black Crows and London Quireboys first albums came out around the same time. Liked both of them. Don't remember the reason the Quireboys were called London Quireboys in Canada (and the US?). Similar to Bush being called Bush X here.

The Rolling Stones are a unique band that we will never see the like of ever again.
Many Bands copy the Stones or Faces style and on stage presence ……….but The Stones will always be in a class above the rest.
Lots of great bands around all over the world doing great music, but The Rolling Stones are unique and have constantly for well over 50 years now...……………...doing great live shows.
Many bands may be similar to The Rolling Stones, but that is just 'cos they have been influenced by them...……… which is great. winking smiley

A band "that sometimes sounds like the Stones" were the Faces. The latter were a very good band, but to place them in the thread together with the Stones ???
I don't mean to be tough on the Faces, but as one sort of said in this thread: the Rolling Stones are a special breed, they are one of a kind and they have many followers, including the Faces.

For a pretty good Stones rip, check out The Beaches' "T-Shirt". They are an all-female rock n roll band from Toronto. Opened for the Stones at Burl's Creek.

They would be very busy if they were to adress every rock song with that chord-progression.
Clearly inspired by the Stones, but a rip off? Nowhere near imo. And yes, a very cool song. cool smiley

The Quireboys are my 2nd fav band (excluding The Faces & New Barbarians)- never seen them live though....but that will all change as they are coming downunder for the first time and doing 4 shows in Oz in February, so I will cross the ditch and catch them there ;-)

Funny, the question is about ‘bands of today’ and most answers are about bands that have been around for decades.

Are there no new bands that sound similar to the Stones and Faces and the members are younger than, say, 30 years old?

Great track. Fun lyrics. Also remind me of another Canadian band called Teenage Head. Check out "Let's Shake"

Another Stones tribute band called The Blushing Brides put out an album in early or mid eighties. Listen to: "What You Talkin Bout?"

That's quite a spin on "today"-- with Mac gone almost 5 years now.
