Safe to say only band to tour in 7 decades. Wow.

Not yet.

They need to tour in 2021 to have toured in 7 decades. Can't start on a zero.

Why not?

Because 1-10 is not 0-9.

Yeah, I disagree. The 60's started in 1960 not 1961 and so on. I count 2020 as a new decade.

Math says otherwise.

Culturally, of course people will say 2020 is the beginning of the TwentyTwenties. But factually, just as the millennium didn't start until 2001, decades END on a zero, not start.

The NBA announced that Vince Carter is the 1st player to play in 4 decades. So this is a new decade, end of story.

When do you celebrate your birthday? At the END OF THE YEAR. You are 10 years old AFTER 10 years. Likewise, a decade finishes at the end of every 10th year. This decade finishes midnight Dec 31, 2020. A new decade starts Jan 1, 2021. End of story

LOL. OK.

But... nope. A lot of "people" and people get it wrong. Perhaps he started on a zero and this is the 4th zero, since a decade is 10 years no matter what.

Emotional Rescue is such a great albums from the 70s.

Not.

We are living in the 20s.

Well, aside from the fact that it was started in 1977 and finished in 1979... and since there was no year zero, 1980 was the last year of the 1970s.

But go ahead and be factually wrong and culturally right.

That explains it, though the concept is very confusing and even controversial! winking smiley

I'm just glad we're finally at a year where people will finally drop the stupid "two thousand and", and say "twenty-twenty".

So what if we were all a year early, all I know is my New Year's Eve on 12/31/99 was a hell of a lot more fun than 12/31/00.

There's a post on FB saying some dates will be announced this Thursday, and that it will be particularly good news for west coast fans. We'll see...

I think we would need some teaser tongues first. Those campaigns usually last at least a week.

Can you post a link to the FB post?

It was (re)posted in the Shidoobee FB group. Link: [www.facebook.com]

Hoping and wondering if Bjornulf will chime in with some more rumoured dates?

As of right now, the 2020 tour page looks mighty lonely with just Louisville listed.
Then again, the fact there's a 2020 tour page at all is reason to rejoice!
Keep on rolling.............................thumbs up

Hi Ian, hope the Stones come to a town near you, and if not hope you can travel a bit to see them - could be the last time they grace the US....?
And a new album (if it happens) to coincide with the tour will be icing on the cake ! The first new album of originals in 15 years, and a possible grand finale tour of the North America - Hallelujah!
One thing is 99% certain, a new tour (with or without a new album) of North America - hard to believe considering all the ups and downs the band have been through for nearly sixty years. Again, hallelujah!

Thanks mate and right back at ya. It's just amazing they are still doing this after all these years in their mid seventies. Who would of ever remotely dreamed this years ago??

if they play in Los Angeles the only 2 possible stadiums are Dodger Stadium and Sofi Stadium (to be released in July 2020 according to wikipedia)?

There's also the Los Angeles Coliseum. Dodgers stadium is a baseball stadium so not so sure about that, but if they are playing baseball stadiums they also have the choice of Angels Stadium in Anaheim which is less than 30 miles from downtown L.A.
Have seen the Stones at all three venues multiple times, and wouldn't mind seeing them again at any of those venues, but I'd rather see them in a football stadium which the Coliseum is.

There is no reason for them to play baseball stadiums when there is a football stadium in the same geographical area. This tour is all about the numbers.

I’ve never set foot in a baseball stadium and for most of the crowd, I csn’t Imagine it would be a good place to see a concert. Football Stadia would be far preferable. It sounds like an announcement is getting ever closer.

Just some guy named Jay Bleckley who no one has ever heard of. BV would likely have more reliable information.

Most people will disagree with your end of the story. Maybe when can just say the twenties - and since thirty is not twenty, the twenties will end their story on Dec 31, 2029.

"Following this convention, a new decade begins when the tens digit of a numerical year changes (for example, the 1970s began when 1969 ended and 1970 began) while ending on the last day of any year ending in nine."
WIKIPEDIA [en.wikipedia.org]

"decades generally encompass the time span from years ending with 0 to years ending with 9, such as 2020 – 2029."
