Out of Time, and Quality of Performances

I just saw the new movie, Once Upon a Time-in Hollywood, with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. This was a strange movie, and way too long, but it did feature this old song by the Stones, Out of Time. I had almost forgotten about it.

Here is another issue. Because I have not been able to see the Stones in a long time, could several people comment on the quality of the recent performances. Disregard their ages, and just give your honest opinion about the quality of the rock music. Thanks

Yes - Out of Time is a favorite among many of us long time fans. Sad that song can make it to a new movie and not a concert setlist.

The whole board comments on The Stones live why don’t you just read the reviews and the live reports

A great song from a great album ...and I've always loved Keith's understated acoustic guitar solo.

Out of time is a great song.By 1966 the Stones, with Andrew's guidance were developing their "Pop" skills as writers/musicians and were successful at it. When that song gets in your brain, the melody is relentless; a beauty. By the way "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is very, very good. Tarantino rocks!!

I second that!! A fantastic roller-coaster ride of a film.

Metamorphosis's version of the song reached #45 UK / #81 US in August 1975.

I love the song “Out of Time”. Maybe they never played it live because it was
Chris Farlowe’s hit? Also they were not so happy about the release of Metamorphosis’s release in the mid seventies. Great song though.

Put yourself in the bubble and don't read ANYTHING about this movie.

I will say this about it: To really enjoy all the effort Tarantino made into re-creating the era, it helps if you're at least pushing 60. There is so much in there that will just go over the heads of 99% of the movie audience, I don't know why he bothered, but this old dude appreciated it.

And if you grew up in L.A. back then, you are really in for a treat. SEE IT TODAY!

Rip This-No spoilers but the 2 hours and 45 minutes go by fast! Great movie. Anyone around in LA in '69 will want to see it just for the visuals.

Hey yeah I was lucky enough to get into
the Melbourne premiere of Inglourious Basterds
back in 2009 with Tarantino opening the film with small Q&A ….

Quinten then sat in the audience... row in front
of me couple of seats to the right …. Usher handed
him a bottle of water but he never drank it and up and
left just before the film ended so I piled over the seats
and grabbed the bottle of water …….. Still have it somewhere …..

I always thought of Out of Time and What To Do as companion songs. I don't think they've played either song live?

I might add, don't pre-judge, i.e. I have seen Tarentino movies before and... or Di Caprio is .. or Brad Pitt, etc.

Just go see it!

There is a Del Shannon concert from 1982 on traders den.

Radio broadcast from the Bottom Line.

Shannon covers "Out of Time" live. Also covers "From Me to You" and his own song "I Go to Pieces" given to Peter and Gordon. Recommended to anyone over 70 or old at heart. It's a good show.
