I'd been to my first 2 Stones concerts back in October '94 at the Rose Bowl and Oakland. The Stones ended up in my home town of Perth, Western Australia in April '95, and back then I was pretty excited to be seeing them 3 times in 6 months. Anyhow, The Stones had been in town for a couple of days and a mate of mine and I were having a couple of drinks one night, looking forward to the show the next night. We knew they were staying at the Hyatt (as their arrival was all over the news) so I said to my mate, I'm going to ring the hotel and see what happens. I knew getting through to any of the band would be very unlikely, and then I thought to myself it would be unlikely Darryl would be booked in under a pseudonym.

I duly called the hotel and asked to be put through to Darryl Jones who picked up! We chatted for about 10 minutes, I welcomed him to Perth and wished him well for the show and the rest of the tour.He was very pleasant and gracious. In my naivety back then at 29 years of age I did ask him where I might get a glimpse of the Glimmers. He very politely said they just hang out and do their own thing.

It was to me at the time a nice buzz with a Stones show looming.

Daryl was/is super cool with Fans, he stood outside their Hotel prior to leaving for the Gig and along with Lisa & Chuck signed everyones items, Me i was inside hovering and got to have a coffee with Bobby, the finest pre-show experience ever

Nice story, but I'd never do that myself.

I have walked into the Amstel Hotel when the Stones played in Holland, not with the intention to meet a Stone , but to pick up a friend From LA. I made it to the lobby, not a single person paying attention to me. I don't know if the Stones where in the Hotel at that moment.

wow...same thing for me when I go to get my driver's licence renewed.

umm actually did do this a very long time ago-I think early seventies-it worked & you know who told me to go F myself-hung up. We laughed our asses off & sparked up another one.

After the last London O2 show in 2007, I was at the Savoy (lobby) where the band was staying chatting with a few hardcore fans when Bobby Keys walks in from the staff party around the corner. I jumped up and asked for a photo and in that Texas drawl, he said would love to. We stood at the elevators a bit and chatted when Bernard walked in. Bobby looked at me and my mate and asked if we'd like a drink. Well, hell yeah! He took us up to the bar and most of the band (minus Charlie and Keith) meandered through. Ronnie came up and joined us, Theo and Alex stopped by as did Angela. Didn't see Marlon. Keith came in but quickly went out followed by the girls.

I didn't quite have the nerve to ask them if I could join them and Keith!! lol
