No Guests-THANK YOU STONES!

I hope and pray that momentum killing, rock and roll fantasy camp-celebrity version gimmick is gone forever.
I didn’t like it even when I liked the guest,if I want to see Buddy Guy i’ll go see him.you can see any of those people for way cheaper than the cost of a Stones show.
Most if not all of the numbers in the Stones set have great meaning to the majority of the fans and it’s a dream come true to see them play those songs.
I would imagine having fckng John Meyer or Lady GaGa up there isnt part of that dream.
Kill the celebrity guest thing once for all, please.

"celebrity version gimmick is gone forever"

then why going seeing Rolling Stones? Because of their musical wonders?

Now, if only the audience members would stop singing along with every single song.
Every verse, every single word. (Especially the tone-deaf and the drunks.)

I saw her today at the reception. I like to remember the old days... when Mick used to sing it alone.
You can't always get what you want...

If a guest really adds something positive then that’s fine by me. Buddy Guy, Tom Waits and Christina Aguilera were most welcome visitors to the stage as far as I’m concerned.

On the other hand, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift were probably invited so that a younger audience might get to hear of the Stones via the internet.

I'm also no fan of watering down the wine. But if the guest really fits to the Stones and it's a classic R&B-Track, I like e.g. AC/DC, Buddy Guy or Bo Diddley. But in those times the Setlists were much longer and now they're simply too short for guests ....

Guests are inevitable along the way, I think it's mostly exciting and creates a buzz. Actually hope Gary Clark does something with them in Foxborough.

The guests from a blues / soul / country background are always worth watching, or listening to.

Very few, though, can do a good Gimme Shelter.

Buddy Guy in Milwaukee was great. No Taylor Swift.

There will probably be a few surprise guests during the course of the tour but I wasn't expecting anyone in Chicago. They have enough to worry about playing the songs without the distraction of having to rehearse a song with a guest.

Was MT a semi-permanent guest?
Was he used as a bait to catch the elder part of the audience (aka the IORR crowd) the same way Gaga or Swift were used as a bait to catch new fans? smoking smiley

They only hired MT to humilate him.
They tried to do the same with Bill, but he didnt need the money so bad.

You guys are missing the point-YOU don’t get to choose the guest.its either they have guests or they don’t.
If you are for it and you want Buddy Guy or Tom Wairs but Monkey Man gets dropped for Anybody Seen My Baby with Kanye West rapping the brake or Sweet Virginia doesn’t get played at your show because Cardi B is up there dancing with Mick, don’t complain.
It will “create buzz and excitement” as someone said, right? ,have at it.
It seems to me they did pretty well on their own this past week.

Well if they did it back fired, Taylor blew them away, probably why they used him so sparingly.

Even worse, THEY DO IT WHILE THEY'RE SCOPING THE SHOW.

I've seen good guests, and a couple of the forgettable ones with The Stones.

I figure they're all cool as far as the legacy factor goes, but not many can add to the music, especially since these songs are so iconic, the true soundtrack of so many fan's lives...

I'll take it either way. I know my list of choices won't be there to jam, but it's a cool surprise when someone does pop up...

There's definitely a promotional factor in most of these appearances, but it is cool to see other artists salute The Stones.

It gives The Stones a bit more of a human touch when they bring up someone else to jam... not just the Vegas act some speak of.

I agree with you MAINDEFENDER about Gary Clark Jr. He joined them in Boston in 2013 & I'm hopeful he'll return to the stage with the Boys for a couple of blistering blues numbers! The Stones seem to LOVE the Boston area so let's see what we get!

Most the ones I'd like to see them guest with are dead blues artists. I think if you're daft enough to pay those prices to see the same tired ass set list, you should at least get to see the band you paid to see.

On the other hand, John Lee Hooker joining the Stones onstage in Atlantic City in 1989 to play Boogie Chillen was an absolutely brilliant moment. Eric Clapton hung around to play too.
