That false start with Rambler was amazing. Would have loved to be a mindreader in those first 30 sec where everyone tag along for the doomed ride! lol

And great response all way around! :-)

And 6 songchanges out of 20 is very cool. Especially compared to Aerosmith who does the same 17 songs every night in their Vegas thing.

they nailed most of this show particularly hot; especially for a stadium.
keith more confident, present and connected. good change-ups in the set;
a confident show and good omen for this burgeoning tour.
some of tonight's stuff on par or better than some of the more recent concert
films these last five or so years.
they had to be very pleased with this outing.
i could nit pick and might for fun, what the hell, as time goes by.
they took this night tho; the blues number and videos minimally appropriate
and used to great effect; mentioning chess records was nice and a lot of it was.
this is a better show that a whole lot of shows recent years imo.
i was pleased with friday but this one in another league i thought.

Wonder how the "RAIN Setlist" would have looked like. Probably no acoustic set.

A BLAST AGAIN!

Two Chicago’s and two very different set lists.
Wifey and I sat in Row 1 of Section 110, the actual 50 yard line, and there was an annoyingly distractingly irritating echo. Double Mick isn’t a good thing.

Sight line was spectacular but honestly the sound was better with my LD Friday night on the side in 342.

Oh, and in case I haven’t told you this before, I could watch a live version of Midnight Rambler every night for the rest of my life and never tire of it...

Long Live The Rolling Stones!

that's two without adtl only because they are saving it for now.
it's too good. it's one of the numbers that is just too good.
there's nothing that can really follow it; i understand now.
i'm not pissed anymore; just lonely for it.

they have to do it in a sea side city in case they need the Navy.
when they finally unwrap it; it's gonna hit pretty hard.
they are going to need an ocean, not a lake, however great or superior,
so that the sound waves and impact can safely disperse before entering
international waters. young dolphins need leave the shoreline, please.
they have their own language and understand things well enough to keep
US from learning it, but they're onto the Stones, some of them.
If you don't have a boat and a boom box don't be judging hops cause
he can prove it.

some kind of treaty shit about international waters, i don't know the particulars.
I still think there's a Bond connection since the Knight thing happened.
Daniel Craig also had surgery which delayed his performance project as you know
who; at least that's what they're telling us.

did they actually do monkey man or am i dreaming; cause that would
make up, sorta, for at least half of the adtl omissions thus far.
HOWEVER; This must not continue.

AAA for effort Chicago 2!! smileys with beerthumbs up

hey, they took my advice and DO read these forums!drinking smiley
They definitely switched Keith's joints onto the sativa tonight. thumbs up
appropriate nod to the Governor or Mayor or whatever sleazy politician was sucking up, btw!
look for the Keith Richards Brand joints next to the Willie Nelson pre-wraps soon!
just look for a tongue all licking something. it will be as red
as they're plastic jackets tonight. Mick's always thinking.

rambler wasn't a mistake, the boy was eager.hot smiley
MR SOUNDS EXCELLENT GUITAR with the pib git caped on 2nd.
they should have transposed on the spot and followed the leader.
mick could have done some reaaalll creative harmonica work on it.
the mistake was the heavy indica on Friday night.

In Buenos Aires 2016 Keith did a similar false start, but there he started to play TD instead of IORR on his black Gibson. Wrong guitar, wrong tuning and no capo.

yes, a lot of people think that was a mistake, but that's the way Bill originally wrote and arranged it; there's been a Lot of controversy within the band about it.

why take a dig at another band when clearly you don't understand how vegas works and your post showed it. every act that plays vegas for multiple nights does the same show. that's the point. its timed out for the casino so that they know how long the people will stop gambling. every aspect of the show has been run through numerous times and given the ok by the casino. I use to deal with stuff like that. if the stones did a long vegas stint they too would be forced to make very little if any changes.

that being said longtime aerosmith fans are happy to see these songs in the setlist
seasons of wither
kings and queens
draw the line

it looks like aerosmith just hit about the 1/2 way point of their stint and did make some changes. lets see if these changes stay for the rest of the stint.
they dropped:
mama kin
back in the saddle
come together

replaced with:
draw the line
rag doll
chip away the stone

before they were playing walkin the dog during the encore instead of come together so yes despite the rigid way vegas casinos work they have made some changes

Fabulous show, viewed from rail at mid-catwalk, Pit 2.
Better than Friday and that was good.

Mick smiles more than usual at both. Keith more animated, song choices better on Tuesday.

You all going to future shows are in for a treat. I have Denver and Miami,
but sadly, no more pits.

Last night was very disappointed for me.

On Friday Chicago 1, I was in section 104 and it was supposed to be a limited view seat. In fact, it was a super super seat with a great view and Mick at 15 meters from us when he came (at many occasion) on our side.

Last night Chicago 2, we were in section A on the floor and it was supposed to be excellent but in reality it was really bad with all those people talking during all the show and with their bloody iPhone for filming. For us, the limited view it was not on Friday but last night and I precise one important point, I am not that small (1 metre and 80 centimetres).

Even for the set list and the way they played, Friday was really really better. Sad Sad Sad on Friday was a killer and starting with SFM is just amazing.

The only funny thing last night was the false start for Midnight Rambler, a great moment.

If I had to rate those 2 Chicago concerts, Friday goes with 18/20, last night only 8/20.

Last night was my 83rd Stones show (starting in Paris on the Sunday 13th of June 1982). I hope it will not be the last one (I am returning to France tonight)...

The No Filter visuals are stunning and you’re right about the COLORS!
Ronnie seems to have influenced them all, wardrobe wise, including Keith.

The colorful guitars too...
Crazy good!

Okay, both Chicago shows in the can.I thought the setlist facelift for #2 was very well done and necessary. Play With Fire was just terrific at the b stage with super clear guitar sound, and Keith pulling out Slipping Away was a nice touch, unfortunately unappreciated by too many. Ride em on Down was outstanding and the city was very appreciative of the roots nod there. Wish they did more blues but one is better than none. If there was serious downer for me it was the Sasha mic FU yet again with GS. How can this be allowed to happen? No excuse as she was singing her heart out. Ridiculous. On a lighter note, the MR bizarre lead in hiccup that morphed into PIB was a wonderful thing to behold. Then of course they simply killed Rambler again. Interesting for me to see the band play the same venue twice but from different locations. Front row in 308 last night compared with 214 from the opener was really good visually and I thought the mix was generally solid. Some Keith guitar dropouts were as per usual aggravating, but I rate the overall sound and experience from my seat last night as high quality for a big stadium gig. I thought the crowd was a bit more laid back last night, but hey it was a work night for many. It amazes me that concert goers are willing to stand in long lines to buy merchandise EVEN during the concerts. Overall, Stones fans had to be pretty pleased with what the Stones brought to open the tour, and the weather especially last night could not have been any better for ANY big outdoor shows.

Keith had no problem with playing the riff on Monkey Man - that was great to see since it may be one of his best riffs in standard tuning.

I was going to write a proper review for the tour page, and still might do it later, but for now a few more random thoughts:

The stage setup is beautiful, and again my wife and I had a great perspective soundwise and visually from Sec 340 to soak it all in.
Mick is superhuman and unstoppable - truly amazing throughout the show, and considering what he'd recently been through made it all the more mind boggling.
There was mention of Keith being subdued and 'in his shell' for show #1, but was not an issue last night - animated. smiling, prowling around a bit (even to both stage extensions on the side), but first and foremost focusing on his playing.

The B- stage - best idea since the invention of the B-stage (!)...they should play at least one more tune out there. Keith went missing for a minute when Mick, Charlie, and Ronnie met in the middle of the main stage to go out to the B-stage, and I have to say I had a bit of a worry (was he sick?), but then he came running out to meet his mates all smiles...don't know if he needed a mini-break or what the issue was. Play with Fire was great, though Mick's nasally vocalisms came to the forefront ...a bit high pitched, but still all around greatness. Some issues with Micks guitar during Sweet Virginia, but no matter as I couldn't hear a problem with it.

As I'd already mentioned, the Midnight Rambler screw up was a bonus, but when they kicked in to Paint it Black after the false start I was worried we might not get MR in full. Not to worry as right after PIB they reignited the engines and blasted off an intense version of Rambler in all it's ragged glory. Ronnie was clear and focused was great throughout the show, and while his solo's on Rambler were also good, there were times where it sounded a bit spastic and unhinged (typical Ronnie style really). His blazing solo on Ride 'em on Down was superb though, and even made Keith smile a bit. Charlie was great as always!

Loved Keith's set as always, though would have preferred Happy over Slipping Away - Happy being in my top five favorite Stones tunes of all time.

All the warhorses were essential - Brown Sugar, Tumbling Dice and Honky Tonk Women were sublime, Sympathy was demonic, and IORR was a knockout (unlike some lackluster versions I've seen in the past). Even Start Me up which is perhaps my least favorite warhorse of them all was pretty darn good. And Satisfaction...great way to end the show with the ultimate classic.

Opening band Whiskey Meyers were OK and they're good musicians, but not being familiar with any of their music it all started sounding similar...sort of generic southern country rock with a ballad thrown in for good measure. Might listen to more of them on youtube later, but for now it's all about basking in the afterglow of a FANTASTIC Stones show! Still a million thoughts scrambling through my mind while I'm in post-Stones show bliss, and will continue to add more as they come in to focus.

From now on KILLER KEITH
He was on fire. Great concert with two memorable things: the mistake with Paint It, Black and Keith disappearing from stage as you can see in my YouTube . The solo in SFTD was very good. But when he started to come in on SFTD he was way to loud as usual since 2017. But I like it every time. Brings a big smile to my face!! spinning smiley sticking its tongue out
