A truly great native son of New Orleans. I was fortunate to see him often through the years.

Sad news indeed. He made discover the richness of the New Orleans musical World, mix of blues, créole, cajun, jazz, zideco, funk and so on.

I just read on Wikipedia that he contributed on EOMS. I did not know that and what role he played on my favorite album.

If I am correct de John did some backing vocals on eoms, on the gospel like tunes I think

Wow - he has own great catalog but to hear that he played on one of the greatest songs in the history of the Stones is amazing.

Professor Longhair could be Professor Long Fingers. Great when Dr. John says "so many cats" Very Humble indeed.

If I'm not mistaken wasn't it Dr.John who played the Wurlitzer electric piano part on "I Just Wanna See His Face" on EOMS?
