Hello,

Never is too late to discover new songs, at least for me this time.

I was reading that Peter Frampton and Steve Marriott got together in the '90 to record a new Humble Pie album but the album was never completed becouse Marriott health.

At least two songs were recorded:

I wont Let you down [www.youtube.com]

Bigger They Come Harder They Fal [www.youtube.com]

What two great songs.

Bye
Fernando

Yes, Marriott had a health problem.

He died.

Just love these guys, such a shame, a reformed Humble Pie would have been a real draw in the 90's. They didn't have 80's baggage and would have had respect from a lot of new guys, i could have easily seen a young Chris Cornell being in awe of Marriott, guitarists everywhere respect Frampton. I'd have bought a ticket

Marriott did not die because of one of his health problems.
He did die in a smouldering caused by himself with a still burning
cigarette while he was asleep.

That was my point.

He said the album wasn't completed because of Marriott's "health."

Death is the ultimate health problem.

I don't think these Marriott/Frampton sessions were intended to re-form Humble Pie. Steve had already done that once before.

When you look at his career and how he would revive previous partnerships: From Small Faces to Humble Pie (which he formed when the Small Faces didn't want to add Peter Frampton) to the post-Pie Frampton,to a solo record to the Small Faces reunion (minus Ronnie Lane) to the revamped Humble Pie (Steve and Jerry Shirley and two new guys) to the (then) unreleased album by Marriott/Lane to various solo band line-ups and then finally back with Frampton it's like a career going in circles.

Green circles.

I saw him live only one time in '81, with the re-formed Pie at a show that was put on CD a few years ago. I had the best seat in the house, sitting at the edge of the stage about four feet from his mic stand. He was a monster talent with that huge voice, and so much personality. There were some moments of that show that I will never forget.

Yes, very talented...but that is not enough to have a long, sustained career in the music business.
Another victim of the drink and drugs scene.

Well, it was the house fire that got him. Self-inflicted, of course. This could’ve been Keith. Didn’t the Redlands fire in the early 70’s have a similar cause?
