Ray Davies is a good bridge writer. "Lola," "Victoria," "Autumn Almanac," and a few others.

Talk about 'the confounded bridge' check this out around 4:25 (I tried to cue up the link to there)...
she's in high heels, and kinda old, all respect intended with awe, and running,
and there's no hand rails, and it's way high up there on a flat sheet of something
with no grid, and she's sorta walking ON and skipping OVER the Bridge.
You see, in some respects Tina is like the Bumble Bee.
Aerodynamics make it impossible for these things to fly.
It's like that with Tina and gravity I think. and funk.

Are there any "bad bridges" ? I'd give that qualification to those that "stand out" a bit too much, like Mick's sometimes. Dunno..."Let's Work" maybe ?

Agreed ! That's almost more like a "song within a song" though.

Aren’t bridges 8 measures in 4/4 time? I don’t know where people are coming up with some stuff

I always understood a bridge to be a section that diverts from the verse-chorus pattern, typically using some different chords and melodies from the rest of the song, and usually only occurs once (or twice) in the song.

Rocks off 'feel so hypnotised' being a prime example, and that even features a bar of 2/4!

I don't think the precise length in terms of bars needs to be a prime concern.

Cream- Badge

Stones have so many . . . many already mentioned, did not see this one, always loved the bridge on Neighbors. During 1977 through 1983, a lot of good ones

Yes but it has to be 8 measures. That’s why it’s sometimes referred to as a middle eight

The story has it that Clapton misread Bridge as Badge on chord changes of the song they were recording. It was upside down on s price of paper. “What’s this badge part” It became the title of the song
