What is amazing about this outtake is how radically different it sounds from one boot to the other. I guess, that is actually what is amazing about boots, period.

I don't have any facts to base this on, but I wonder if this may be Giorgio Moroder on Bass track. We've seen pics from Munich session. It doesn't sound like Bill Wyman on Bass. Taylor may have been gone by then.

Outtakes is by far my favorite Stones passion. An endless list of top performances.

That question is easily answered, but I don't think BV would allow specifics. Maybe off the board

Drift Away - would have been great if it was included on IORR.

Your Precious Love - one of my favourite Stones ballads. I wish this was included on Steel Wheels.

Version I (the one without slide) comes from VGP-027 : it has poor sound and it runs too fast. Version II (with slide overdub) comes from VGP-362 : it has great sound and it runs at the right speed.
It's from a short Jan. 73 studio session that took place in L.A. so no Moroder on this one.

And is that a güiro that can be hears faintly? This track begged for a fat brass arrangement!

Just getting into the (new for me) Leather Jacket.

lovely groove, a little melancholy... What's the story with this track?

'Hear It' from 1964 (supposedly) is pretty advanced sonically.

Look for example at VGP or DAC or TSP. You get a couple of boots on Ebay or Amazon.

Or look here at IORR site in Hot Stuff. A lot of times people try to sell their boots.

Yeah, you are correct. I looked into it now too. Early in LA. (Where did the Munich notion come from?) still - I wonder if that is Bill on bass.

Always one of my favorites! Until it was finally released on the some girls reboot. Now it’s not a bootleg!

love leather jacket too! I later found it On a mick Taylor solo album and it had words! I’ve often wondered what the story behind it was as well. Mick Ts lyrics in the first verse seem to be about make Mick Jagger.

So many to choose from!
Among my favorites are the songs with the opposite vocals, you got the silver song by mick; gimme shelter song by Keith; happy song by Mick.

Funny I just walked down Saint Mark’s Place tonight, past the place that I started buying my bootlegs about 30 years ago! Of course that CD store has long since disappeared, but the first one was called “ultra rare tracks” it’s part of a 10 disc series. I think I own all of them. It opened my eyes to what was out there on the bootleg market that at the time I didn’t even know existed!

Where did you hear that one?

Re: Best Stones Outtakes

There are so many, but the studio-outtakes are mostly of bad soundquality, so I just listened to them once. (I am far from knowing all that might exist) Not even the Dirty-Work-outtakes do much for me, the soundquality sucks... Genereally most "songs" (all of the outtakes, not only DW-outtakes) seem not finished and only a very few are actually good songs.
I like GS with Keith on vocals, Love Is Strong (or is it YGMR?) with Keith on vocals, Honest Man and maybe a few others which I don´t remember at the moment. Usually I don´t care too much for stuff the Stones themselves cosidered as not worth relaeasing or/and completing ( you only have to take a look at the 2002-outtakes and you know what I mean... more or less a waste of time listening to them).

Is this really a Rolling Stones outtake? For 1964 it sound untypical, for the Stones, it sounds untypical so how can we be sure, that it is not a fake? Is there any confirmation of this being a Stones tune?

Great music, though - if it was really a Stones outtake, why didn't they use it as an instrumental part for a ballad?

It's not from 1964. Taylor plays on it, doesn't he? Keith did the lead guitar, though.
