I'd say not much. They never mentioned being influenced by any of these female artists.

First names that hits me when I think of modern female rock and roll artists are Chrissie Hynde and Joan Jett. Here is a sample:

Maybe Janis Joplin? I think she was very good.

I would think Sister Rosetta Tharpe may have influenced the boys, particularly Keith, but no idea. An early rock pioneer for certain..

Lucille Bogan, Shave 'Em Dry (and other songs) but Shave 'Em Dry certainly influenced a certain line in Start Me Up

It is important to know that women were not only part of the audience but also on the other side ,inspired , working hard and being part of rock and roll music business. I never really thought of it that much so that article and that project are great pieces of information. But it is a long way to the top if you want to rock and roll and it is the case that most of the rockers who have created and made rock and roll evolve are men. Just a fact.

Bonnie Raitt studied under Mississippi Fred McDowell and Lowell George and became an influential slide guitar and Blues-Rock performer.

I was surprised when I finally got around to listening to the Andrews Sisters to discover that much of their repertoire was in the Jump-Blues, Early Rock & Roll style of Louis Jordan.

And, of course, Big Mama Thornton had a huge impact on Elvis Presley's career.

Carol Kaye is absolutely a pioneer; both for women and men in music. She started as a rhythm-guitarist, playing on such hits as La Bamba, before tiring of the repetitiveness and switching to bass.
