OT: Gibson LP Or Fender Strat?

You are being dropped on a remote island and can only bring one guitar with you.

Which will it be, a Gibson Les Paul or a Fender Stratocaster?

If it's an Island with Cannibals I prefer a Gibson Les Paul.

Since there's probably no electricity on the remote island, I'll bring my Martin acoustic.
If for some miraculous reason there is electricity, I'll bring my Strat.

The Beach boys were on a remote Island with their guitars but no electricity and this is what they sounded like.

You would trouble removing my Strat from the hands of my corpse. Not that I don't love my Les Paul. Funny thing is that I'm a pianist....

Strat.

You can make a Strat sound like a Les Paul, but you can't make a Les Paul sound like a Strat.

Strat.

You can make a Strat sound like a Les Paul, but you can't make a Les Paul sound like a Strat.

You could with a band saw & some single coil pickups.
just cut the diameter in half, exactly, until it's sort of a plank,
or 'oar'... then just tack on a Mustang single coil and you're all set.

Tele, also. But, on a remote island possibly with no electricity, I'll take my DR35 and extra strings.

Tele.
My resotele has a nice loud acoustic sound, so it could work with or without electricity.

I take a Telecaster with a neck humbucker.

Electricity or no electricity, I'd take an acoustic guitar.

fenders are sturdier & would take more of a beating in that situation. gibsons don't respond well to that at all. i used to have a lovely les paul but had to sell it durning an economic downturn.+ my fingers don't work so well any more.

yes; fender def the better weapon or hunting tool.
that's the el kabong for sure. They've nearly killed Pete Townshend when he tried to catch one, with his head. You could beat the holy shit out of a badger or beaver. The Paul's neck would break off. You could beat that Fender against a rock and it would be a sculpture tool; the rock would yield. they spray with them some kind of kryptonite resistant stuff in the factory. They are hard to kill.
I dropped one, the straplock broke on a hard cement basement floor.
It dented the floor and was in tune when i picked it up.
Take a few swings at your friend's cymbal stands; well one swing;
next time he'll have the real THICK hardware, and an eye patch.
If keithfucious had hit that kid clean in the head, his head would still be in orbit. There's a reason they play stadiums; keith has been waiting for one clean across the plate for decades...

I agree with Mr Kovach, versatility would be in place at this very juncture, however, if free to choose another weapon, I'd prefer one of my teles.

My 1992 original Zemaitis Metalfront.

Out of the two axes the OP asks for it would be the Strat.

Neither the LP nor the Strat : you'd die from depression after realizing you'd never be able to plug the axe into an amp.

On a desert island you'd better learn how to play percussions using coconuts. grinning smiley

A '56 or '57 Strat ...
