What would Tony's motivation be to give Scotland Yard info on Brian? Was he under arrest for something and this was part of a bargaining tool to get less time/free?

Hi Cindy, the Drugs Squad allowed some dealers to Carry on with their business in Exchange for tip offs. A barther deal. This explains why Tony could Carry on for so long and was never jailed.

well if that's true, then that's real shitty of him, but it sounds like Tony was fully embedded into Keith's camp by '69, so maybe he no longer considered Brian to be a friend at that point.

Friend or not, it's a shitty thing to do. Again, assuming it's true.
