If this is true, this is THE WORST Stones compilation ever assembled. What crap!!!! Better the Decca comps from the 70s.

Where is I Think I'm Going Mad & the Dance instrumental?

well - it is a pretty crappy throw-together - but it will be the first ever CD release of Lonely Nights - so I will get it for that alone

I'll light a candle tonight and pray that this trackslist is not true...
WHAT A CRAP COMPILATION! No Think I'm Going Mad, no Run Rudolp Run, no They Harder They Come and I guess Wild Horses (acoustic from Tokyo) is from the CD single which was culled from the Stripped album............! And those 12" mixes sounded bad back then, and they sound even badder and outdated now...

What about the single version of 'All Down The Line'? And wasn't there another alternate single version of some song? Why not throw on 'Exile On Main Street Blues' too?

Bah.

Run Rudolph Run and Harder They Come are Keith solo tracks and have no place on a Stones album

Do you mean "Everybody Pays Their Dues" which is the alternate of Street Fightin Man?

I think Good Time Women is the alternate of All Down the Line, but I might have that mixed up.

Everyone I play "I Can See It" and "Drifting Away" absolutely loves them and wants it. I used to work at EMI too, I guess my influence wore off! Bastards.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

Good Times Women is an early version of Tumbling Dice.

No, Cindy - these are all officially released items - the ones you mention are not. The alternate ADTL was including as a b-side to the first EOMS single.

the album title is 'rarities' ..its not meant to be a compilation of unreleased songs like the Dance instrumental, Drift away and all that stuff

There was a different mix of ADTL when it was released as a single, but the difference is pretty minimal. I Think I'm Goin' Mad would certainly have been worthy of a place on this release

And if Virgin/EMI are going to issue unreleased songs, theyre not going to be releasing pre-1971 songs like "I can see it" or "Pay your dues"

Thanks Koen!

I knew it was an Exile song, but I'm listening to music as I type and I couldn't get the tune in my head.

Wasn't looking too good, but I was feeling real well.

It's clear we're not going to see "rarities" during the Stones lifetime.

So why, then, can't they just put together all the non-lp stuff on one @#$%& compilation!?!? What is so hard about that? It's a no-brainer.

Personally, I hope the Virgin tracklisting is the real deal.

It seems like "Collectables" redux - imagine skipping all those great Voodoo/Stripped singles (& soundtrack contributions) from 1994-98 (way better than the Steel Wheels b-sides) - actually I suppose if one never got "Collectables" back in '91....It's sort of like Sucking In the 70s, which skipped the big hits like Miss You & ER & didn't even (as one might expect) cover the first years of the Ron Wood era (throwing in an edit of Time Waits 4 No One) as logical followup to Made In the Shade (which at least had a theme - Big Hits, vol 3, '71-74, Taylor era) - This Rareties will have some great moments but no cohesion, makes no attempt to collect all the best non-lp singles, mixes dance remixes with b-sides, etc...Of course it could have been a 2 cd set, even w/ all officially issued material...

Gazza, you and T&A are amazing. How do you know all this stuff? I'm jealous.

Ok, Ok that's not the best we could imagine ... But "Beast of Burden" live and the several Blues numbers are ok. Otherwise we all have the boots and there we have nothing else but the true Stones ...

Rarities, My Ass.....

More crap aimed at the general public by including Beast of Burden and Miss You on it.

I wanted more unreleased stuff and rare b-sides, not more f-cking live versions of the same warhorses.

.......but I'll still probably buy the thing, just to get the DVD.

By alternate versions I meant single versions - sorry for the confusion :\

And the other song I was thinking of was 'Sway' - wasn't this mixed differently for the B-side version?

Mmmm, Gazza, that's debatable. As far as I know, both were recorded during Stones sessions and just labelled "Keith Richards" for release....
Memo From Turner is also Jagger solo, but ABCKO included it in the Stones Singles Collection set...

'Harder they come' comes from a Stones session (Hollywood august 1978), although the only other Stones on it are Woody and Charlie

'Run rudolph run' was from a solo session
