It's an incredible tune that makes me wish they had gone even bluesier on the rest of the album...

At Fenway, Jagger played the slide part while Keith handled the rhythm. As the song built, Mick called Ronnie to the fore and he delivered some smokin' guitar on the climax.

My problem with the recording/performance is that Mick's harp playing is overdubbed and so is not used in the stage version.

Love Jagger on the blues harp.

Picks for the day:

"Stop Breaking Down," "Hey Negrita," "Slave," "Gunface," "Infamy"

Why doesn't Jagger drop the guitar and let Ronnie do that, so he can focus on harp playing.

It may be good live, (what Blues Jam by the Stones isn't good live?) but it is one track I feel compelled to skip on the album. It's just a clone. Spelled F A K E. A delibrate approach. Calculated.

I agree.

And honestly: it's not that good live either.

Replace it with Black Limousine and I'm satisfied.

I'll see what can be done.

This was probably THE highlight of the MCI show. It's smokin' live and believe in the song's sincerity as well. Just sorry it's been dropped from setlist lately.

It's a great song. Why is this one fake and You Gotta Move isn't? Because they were recorded 35 years apart? Rubbish. Back of My Hand seems pretty sincere and deeply felt to me. Love the slide and the harp. I'd like to see a whole album of bluesy, rootsy songs like this one.

No not because they were recorde 35 years apart.

Back of My Hand seems like a Jagger demo tape. The final product seems to lack any sort of intensity, or heart. Yeah, I tend to skip over this one as well. There's a million examples, but what comes to mind is, compare it to any John Lee Hooker CD, even playing in his what '80's? There's depth and sincerity in his song. This was one of the casualties of not recording together in the studio.

i don't think it's a great track - not as good as Fancy Man Blues, certainly. I maintain it's on the album merely as a catalyst to do a new blues song on the stage...and the live version is much better (predictably).

Not among the top-20 of blues songs (maybe not even top-100 or top-500);
but sure as hell a lot better than You Gotta Move (which, as we know,is a cover, and therefore hard to compare with, of course)... All imho.

Think about how Chris Robinson, or even Steven Tyler, would sing their heart out on this song. How would you rate the song then?

So Muddy would be proud. Of his own work!

I'd be amazed if anyone who has heard BOMH criticizes it. It's intensity almost matched Misnight Rambler for intensity. It was amazing...

You ain't heard it until ya heard it live1
