Almost Saturday Night, a John Fogerty tune, great version here with Keith Urban on banjo, lead guitars and vocals. And wouldn't you know it, Mr. Wood shows up in the video around 1:53.

1971 solo debut with Leon Russell, Steven Stills, Booker T. Jones, Clarence White. Post Mad Dogs and Englishmen and Delaney and Bonnie. Great singer who went "radio friendly" after this and found mainstream success. Neil Young tune.

Are ya all aware he croaked the same year as Johnny Cash?
Although Paycheck took his name from a Chicago boxer, I always thought it was that he wanted to be mirroring Cash somehow.
Apartment NO 9 and Pardon Me are along with If I am Gonna Sink THE BEST of his early years.

Big hit but I don't recall it getting alot of respect from the rockers at the time. Looking at it 39 years later, its a masterclass in how to make powerful but commercial music. Jeff and Rod are in absolute peak form and the tune is perfect for them.
