That is awesome, and my one regret! I had a chance, friends went to see them back in the 80s, don't recall the circumstances but I couldn't go.

Hi mikey c, I was fortunate to see The Clash three times - first time headlining Santa Monica Civic 1980, second time opening for the Who at LA Coliseum, 1982,
and the third time at US 83 Festival where they headlined day two (aka "New Wave Day") which was the final appearance of Mick Jones with the band.

Flashback to the Clash opening for the Who in 1982 - when they played this tune a couple of crazy young mohawked punks decided it was a good time to head down to the field from their upper loge seats.
In unison and to the beat, they bounced down the steep concrete steps of the coliseum staircase, right past me in the lower loge and down to the field. What a memorable sight to see, and all of them survived! smiling smiley

Oh yes. n all six albums those guys did not do one boring cut. And IMO they got better and better. Already on that first album, the closer "Sofa" is so sophisticated. It totally reminds me of Traffic's closer on "John Barleycorn" "Every Mother's Son", the outro.

Myself I have been digging whole back catalogs by major artists. Did Pink Floyd; now I am doing Bowie.

Oh my - I just love vituosity!

John McLaughlin, Trilok Gurtu, Kay Eckhardt

I tried to set the video forward to position 4:24 although the first 4 minutes are truly nice, too, but somehow I could not handle it here. So play forward if you will ...

Anyways - true music, true vituosity, true happiness!

As I said earlier I am working my way through the Bowie catalog. (I'm sorry, I am still laughing: I had made a typo, and wrote 'cacalog' at first).
I don't think I have listened to this album, as an entire piece, in a lifetime. probably not since way back in the day. And hardly any of the cuts are on big rotation anywhere. I am blown away. Very good.
Was pretty disappointed in the "Oddity" album; too much 12 string, no memorable songs. Hooking up with Ronson was major. But we have Woodmansey on drums, and Tony V on Bass on the whole album. As I;m listening I am already saying to myself: who is that on Bass?? I knew that wasn't Trevor Bolder, and it was too rough for Herbie Flowers. It's easy to forget that besides many things, Tony is also a top bassist. That SG is dirty and complete;y original. Very prominent.
On wants to give Ronson all the credit; and I'm sure he did so much of it. But it really sounds like a partnership for the ages: Ronson/Visconti/Bowie. (I can't remember if Tony was along for the 'Transformer' album for Lou.)

The chords, the songs, the lyrics are aggressive; and again - highly original. Those first years in the 70's - whew!

Love the arrangements; "Madmen", "Running Guns", "Black Country Rock" etc. very very good IMO.
