Philadelphia Special 1972 two CD Boot.
It's just amazing.
Nothing imaginable in the entire
world of live rock and roll concert tecorded,
could much touch this I'm thinking.
Sooo grateful for the truly deep young fan
who sent me this s dozen years ago.
It starts w K reciting the first lyric line...
NE opens and it's full ON.
CHARGE!!
I should post this observation
on the recent 72 vs 73 thread I guess..
But it's an exciting recording audio wise...
Soundboard? Bass ain't super distinct
But the bottom is there....
..the stereo spread is kinda thrilling....
It's not just my love and respect
For Nicky and Stu....
It's The Stones at their most wild untamed
bare bones stuff.
And Jim and Bobby with Nicky and Stu...
It's pretty much unprecedented I think,
tho might have been 71 shows in UK
or European countries.
On BS the ATTACK de pianos
slams In with incredible power...
Taylor spits like a snake..
Not noodling dear friends...
An angry snake....
Pianos....
Been thinking of Nicky as the
Anniversary of his passing was two
days ago....
Will try to leave some impressions
of my relationship to his playing
Without knowing who it was,
on very many early Kinks and be The Who records
that I loved long before Banquet.
I alluded to "unprecedented"
because I dont think these
same 9 players who did SF and Exile
in the studio as a unit, appeared
Together All of them on a Tour,
before or after.....and most of the
Standard warhorses still cooking night to
night....are basically these exact players.
Sorry to drone on butBoy I heard
this Philly thing for the first time
in years, and it's totally incredible.
What I'm listening to right this second is the opener again.
Brown Sugar Live Philly 72 .
