Putting this out there to see what hardcore fans would think.

Of course, Mick's health is of the utmost importance right now, and thankfully all indications are he will make a full recovery and the show(s) will go on after recovery and rescheduling of the venues.

That being the most likely scenario right now, the only show that rescheduling isn't really feasible for is Jazz Fest (and maybe Burls Creek?).

From the Advocate as posted in the NO thread..
"Rolling Stones cancellation is the most devastating in Jazz Fest history"

"But who could possibly be an equivalent replacement for the Rolling Stones?"

Which brings me to my question..
What if The Rolling Stones (sans Mick) played the concert to fulfill contractual obligations etc.? I could see a show where Keith, Ronnie, Bernard, Sasha, et al share lead vocal responsibilities. And/or a "special guest" heavy concert with a variety of singers sitting in. A lot of performers will be in town already and many artists would jump at the opportunity to help Mick and the band out.

Sacrilege, I know, and fairly far fetched as well..
But if I had booked this trip mainly for this show, and they decided to do this as opposed to a replacement and/or no show at all, I could see getting excited about it. cool smiley
F&^%$#@ING Ridiculous.

So, it would be ok Macca going out now as The Beatles or Pete Townsend hitting the stage as The Who without Roger Daltrey?

We have in the past ridiculed "bands" who tour without many/most of their original members, sometimes in name only and WITHOUT any original members. Let the Stones BE the Stones.

If the contracts state The Rolling Stones how could the others go out on stage as The Stones without Jagger?

Silly

Great question and idea!

Maybe they could ditch Keith and Charlie and do and tour with replacements?

They could keep Ronnie, the name, and of course the iconic logo, Chuck, and Bernard.

Paul and The Stones. I like it. I like it a lot.
Someone get his agent on the phone.
Is his piano player available? Get back to me on this.

Maybe I'm A Rambler. It could work. Can he still hit that high note?
Of course Rodney would be Perfect. He already has feathers! I should have thought of him first.
I think he used to play with one of them.

Or his piano player did.

Paul plays piano. That's a plus.
Think about it. The piano player gets replaced while all this is going on;
just go with it for now ssshhh...

yeh Paul would be Great...
(we won't let hi sing, it's part of the plan ssshhh) don't worry.

This "no Mick" approach would merely serve to accentuate it's time to call it a day.

The money for Jazz Fest is the least of the Stones' concerns - they're not renting out a stadium for 3 days to set up the stage etc, play, take down the stage etc (hotels, food, laundry, press and whatever the hell else).

I get your...enthusiasm. But it's beyond far fetched. With the Stones, it's either all or none.

To my knowledge, always has been that way, will never change.

Yeah, the stones share of the money was never a concern.
More to do with the fans and the sticky situation of not really being able to postpone or cancel this one as the tickets are tied in with other acts and already sold.

I land firmly in the "No Mick/No Stones" camp ultimately, but this an unusual situation and thought a unique solution might be interesting to talk about as we wait word on Mick and the plan for replacement dates.
I was wrong. It's happened before. Once. cool smiley

What a nonsense tread.

The Rolling Stones without Mick Jagger are like a horse with only three legs, as far as live shows are concerned even more like a two-leg horse ...

...and as far as live shows go, as MJ is the only one moving around, more like a horse with no legs.

Ofcourse it makes sense.
A lot of the best April Fools jokes are started days/a week before the day itself and than on april 1st it's revealed that it is a joke.

But...good one, MisterDDDD!

Yeah.. changed it tongue in cheek as I explained in the revised initial post.
Perhaps should have just posted "please delete" or the like as I regret the post.

Didn't expect the multiple personal attacks and strong reactions and felt badly.
With Mick's condition as yet undisclosed, I should have refrained from speculation.
The immediacy of the JF replacement and the limited options led me to jump the gun in my partial defense.

Apologies again to those offended. Not my intent.
