If they move the shows to different venues, even in the same cities, they'd presumably need to issue refunds and then ticket the events all over again, since the substitute venues won't have the same seat configurations, etc.

Just kidding, yes, it did cost me to change my flights, about 150 USD, but on the other hand I saved 500 USD on the Chicago hotels and got four more vacation days back - to be used - wisely - later on.
I determined the date so that I can catch Bob Dylan here in Helsinki June 24. In fact, I leave Chicago on June 23 in the afternoon, transfer in Stockholm in the morning of June 24, land in Helsinki about 10 AM, and the Dylan show is that same night!
What's done is done. Of course, had I known that Chicago now seems to open the Stones tour, I would not have changed anything. But the flights have been changed, the Chicago #2 tickets refunded and the Dylan front of stage ticket is in my inbox. Yes, I think I got what I needed. I've seen the Stones thirteen times these past 2 years, but no Dylan since 2007. Sorry for straying off topic but this was just in response to Tim's question.

A little insight on Chicago weather and the seasons:
Last week (May1), there was measurable snow in Chicago. Chicago is a northern city. Your safe window for an outdoor event such as a Stones concert, is June, July, August and September. Outside of those months you are rolling the dice.
I imagine the window of opportunity is even less for Burl's Creek since that location is further north than Chicago.

Instead of everyone chasing their tail, the Stones management/Tour promoters should say this thing is happening or not. Better to get the bad news over with and squash the speculating. If it's the fall or July get on with it. And I have already wished Mick well.

Same here....I went ahead and filled out the entire survey as if the show had actually taken place, giving 100% positive answers about everything.
But for additional comments, I complained a bit about the setlist that was filled with too many warhorses.

The only airline in the USA that allows you to change a flight without getting screwed on change fees is Southwest (there may be the odd exception).

Come to think of it, you can thank Keith Urban for the fact that I am going to Chicago in the first place. I bought a ticket to see him @ Lake Shake Country fest on June 22. If I didn't have that ticket I might have skipped Chicago altogether...and just come back home straight from NJ.
