His book should be called 'Charmed Life'.

"On May the 10th 1967, Brian Jones and Stash were arrested in London on drug charges. Today, it is almost certain that the drugs had been planted. Although eventually cleared of all charges, the trial was a traumatic experience for Stash: - - -

" Even his own lawyer showed a certain degree of hostility: I was defended by Sir David Napley, who infuriated me by querying: 'But you, Sir, are a gentleman, what on earth are you doing with those chaps?' - the latter term he stressed in a disgusted, contemptuous manner....".

Thanks for the link.

Stash (in the middle) with Sir David Napley, QC (left)
and chauffeur and roadie of The Rolling Stones
Tom Keylock (right). June 2nd 1967.

A Peacock style icon, apparently. Full name: Prince
Stanislaus Klossowski De Rola, Baron De Watteville.
Short name: Stash...

I must say, Tom Keylock doesn't look like a chauffeur. Or a roadie. More like a teacher or a doctor...

This gentleman features quite a bit talking about Brian in the new film Rolling Stone: Life and Death of Brian Jones, which I saw last night. He's an interesting character and it's also an interesting film.

Watch out for screeenings in the US and elsewhere next year, when it'll also be out on DVD, which I was glad to hear as I want to see it again.

Class war in all its "beauty". You can understand Keith for being mad at Mick for accepting knighthood. Joining the club that so violently fought you... sad smiley

Except the 'class war' is not what it once was (though certainly hasn't been killed off).
It shows the difference in the characters of Mick and Keith of course.

Yes, I remember that comment very well. With people like that as part of your Defenceteam, Brian didn't stand a chance did he?
It was typical of the time...and the time before that. Things have changed now (to some extent).
The irony for me is is that Stash was living on private income and would hardly have to worry about how to pay for his next meal. Linking up with the celebs of the day seems a nice way to pass the time.
In contrast all of the Stones had worked very very hard (certainly in their early period) to build up their careers, they had talent and appeal but no guarantee of ling term security. Most of 'The Establishment' had none of these qualities or life experience.

Stash hung out at Redlands in the mid-1980s quite a bit with Keith and Alan Clayton.
