Crazy Mama - Bill vs. Keith on Bass

Hey Folks,
something i realized, comparing the released version with the demo-version:
on the demo bill is playing bass - and on the released version there is keith (like it´s noticed in the linernotes).....
poor bill ;-)

Wonder why they used the '97 video footage for this '70's sound.

Legend has it that Keith wiped ALL of Bills' bass parts and redid them himself. The story was told in one of the older Stones books. On the Demos that Bill played on the basslines are much superior. As one would expect.

That's not a demo, it's the live bottoms recording for the version that is on the LP.

in general, they are both good bass players for Stones tunes. Bill had something extra, another level to go to. But... the evidence is there for all to hear, on many songs..Keith absolutely knew what to play and what he wanted to hear, when he played the bass parts himself.

On second listen I would say that I agree with the Dutchman: its Keith on both takes.
