Issues of profligate personal spending, obsessive fanboy/fangirl fixation aside- wouldnt someone falling for this be at all concerned about looking like a total chump/sucker/fool in the eyes of their elderly idols- you know, like " I cant believe these idiots are actually paying us this kind of scratch for "Hey, how ya doin? Gotta run..." What a sweet racket!
That's pretty funny!

bill had some business with them re mechanicals; it happens from time to time if you're a big Star. He was owed 35 grand in back royalties,
but that's what Mick was charging him for letting him come around.
this is out of hand. Charlie is not really that much into shoes.
He just looks at his feet a lot when Mick is making plans and statements.
he figgered, well, as long as i'm investing the time...

During the meet and greet/photo op, you'll be stuck in either Armpit A or Armpit B...up close and personal indeed.

I met Ronnie a couple of times in the past, and each time he had serious B.O. - better hope for anything but standing next to Ronnie!eye popping smileywinking smiley

Talking about communism... Can you imagine they send look-a-likes to the "meet/greet/gimme 35K". For security reasons Stalin had numerous doppelgängers, why not imagine Mick and the boyz might do the same...

They'll just have to find someone who looks like Ronnie and is ready to not wash for the duration of the tour. >grinning smiley<

NOTE...

"A minimum of 5% of the proceeds for each purchase on IfOnly.com is directed to a charity chosen by the Luminary offering the experience."

Uh huh.

It ain't going to any charities.

If it isn't, it ought to be. Wouldn't it be nice....all of it.

If the band decides to call it quits, Mick certainly will go on touring and making new music. I'm not so sure the rest of the band will do the same / Charlie will retire, Keef will polish his "rock legend" status with selected interviews and media appearances and Ron will mix guest spots at other artists' gigs with his family life.
.
I can see Mick doing what he does now till he's 80, maybe more.

A deal is perceived. If you like the deal at $35,000 it's a good deal.
You also get bragging rights that you met the Rolling Stones...

There are 10's of thousands of people that have got autographs or have met the Stones for free. Outside hotels, outside rehearsals in Toronto, etc.
Don't pay the money. I know its for charity but how much actually reaches the charity is another question.

Updated mind-boggle. I apologize for not reading with focus. I thought 35K bought a modicum of individual face time. I see the reality is acually "their time may be limited to 15-90 seconds with each group" Imagine being herded with a group of like-minded fanatics into a non-descript spartan backstage waiting area. In come the Stones. Now count to fifteen. Out go the Stones. Done. Over.
Thank you come again Hey they have to walk back through here to leave when the shows over. I can set ya up for another 15 seconds for just 35K! Almost like selling cocaine.

I'd pay $25.67 + tax...but only if "a portion goes to charity"

"Problem" is, even $1000 won't work...b/c only an outrageous price insures that a small amount of people actually take the offer - they can't "meet n' greet" all night.

The 'market alorithms' say the rich and stupid will pay for this. What band from 1914 (55 years) would you have paid $35 to meet and greet in 1969?

I'd rather pay $1000 for front-row in a club setting.

As cool as it would be to have a photo with the boys, it wouldn't mean anything.

I have photos of myself with Angus Young and Lemmy Kilmister, and I treasure them because I hung outside the venue and waited for them...they chatted with me for a bit and signed some stuff. Way more gratifying.

It is indeed. I get this one Hopkins. My comment here is entirely unrelated due to thread subject but entirely related due to the poster’s content in that I saw the Boy George hologram in Liverpool at a Rock & Roll exhibit about 3 years back. Talk about spooky watching a filter ghostly vision of a person singing. That’s probably the wave of the future. Unfortunately.

Speaking of holograms........wonder if there will be a meet and greet?!!!eye popping smiley smiling smiley

Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly ‘Rock N’ Roll Dream’ Hologram Tour Announced

CREEPY

What have we said about hologram tours? Ready or not, they’re coming — and with Frank Zappa and Ronny James Dio hologram outing scheduled for later this year, a new one featuring visual representations of the late Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly is also on tap.

As Rolling Stone reported, the upcoming Rock N’ Roll Dream tour will feature holographic versions of the late music legends, complete with a live band, backing singers and remastered audio from their respective careers.

Orbison’s son, Roy Orbison Jr., issued a statement about the new project:

“My father’s music meant the world to not just to us Orbisons but to millions of fans worldwide,” he said. “Being able to reopen his legendary songbook and again hear his voice bounce off great concert hall walls is both a transcendent and cathartic experience. Dad jammed with Buddy in Lubbock Texas and helped change music history by turning Buddy on to Norman Petty Studios; Buddy later returned the favor by recording two of Dad’s songs on his first Cricket’s album. How beyond cool and special that these two great friends, now get to tour the world together.”

Holly’s wife, Maria Elena Holly, offered up a statement of her own, encapsulating the pair of entertainers who will “share the stage” together again, noting that they were “Texans who shared a mutual respect and admiration for each other’s creative musical genius and brilliant songwriting abilities.” She continued, “Their long-time fans and a new generation of fans will now have the opportunity to see these great legends perform together in a unique setting, showcasing two of the finest, most influential, and beloved artists in music history.”
