And according to georgelicks had 'Hot Rocks 1964–1971' and 'Jump Back 1971-1993' very good sales numbers in 2017/18 - [iorr.org] ....

A great release. I mean it. I am just happy to be fan of them as long as they are alive. And to get my hands on new vinyl with new live releases - I am excited. Plus personally - I like the cover art. Looks prettier than Grrr or Jumpbackk to me at least.

Sorry Rocky. A new album, or at the very least a new single for the tour I could get into. But yet another rehash..? Nup. They are taking us all for idiots. And to the poster who said it could be a way to get new fans into them. Really? New fans get into them by seeing them with their dads etc. No-one new to buying music, I would say, actively seeks out music by 75yos. They tend to gravitate to young women wearing not much of anything or to rappers etc. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

for me (musically speaking), "honk" was always associated w/ "country rock" as in Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Ronnie Van Zant stating "let's play some old honk" before the band busted into "Gimme Three Steps"

see Skynyrd's "Gold & Platinum" album which has that live version (and lots of other awesome tunes).

that being said: I don't like the album title and another Stones Greatest Hits album makes me want to "honk." Oh well.

Would've been better if they sold the live recordings as a stand-alone thing and moved the greatest hits to a deluxe version for new fans

Comps aren't made for "us" but rather, every five years or so, for casual fans. "Grrr" was issued seven years ago complete with a weird,"random" packaging theme directed at young folks who might be attending the "Fifty and Counting" shows. Like 'Hot Rocks' and '40 Licks' it contained Abkco era tracks along with post '71. Both Grrr and 40 Licks are out of print leaving Hot Rocks as the only multi-disc Stones comp. When you think about it 'Honk' and 'Hot Rocks' make excellent companions as the former is focused on the Rolling Stones Records years and the latter the '60s. Side-by-side they tell the complete story.

Now seventeen years old and fourteen years out of print, "40 Licks" was actually a tremendous comp. It contained songs from all eras, hard to find single mixes and two excellent (out of four) new songs. Most importantly it listed for $10 less than "Hot Rocks."

That's a bit unfair : the band has the balls to release live cuts taken from recent shows. That's quite bold imo. Maybe Jagger got wind of the success of the excellent IEM/aud boots by Xavel and decided there was a market for recent live stuff from the band?

great another compilation, just what i need for my collection.

can i suggest to the stones if they want to release some live stuff, to look at some of the excellent performances of the last tour and particularly warsaw, prague, berlin, stuttgart shows, including songs like street fighting man, gimme shelter, paint it black, like a rolling stone, shes a rainbow, midnight rambler.

I loved the ‘Shine A Light’ from Amsterdam, we had a great live utube clip of it up close on Keith and Mick. Haven’t checked if it’s still available but

Most important : It's a limited edition.So limited,that you probably have to wait four weeks before you can drag the honk half-prized out of the crap barrell of your local supermarket...

I can see why they did it, but I certainly won't be buying it. As someone pointed out, it's not meant for diehards. At one time or another I've had various compilations..Hot Rocks, More Hot Rocks, Rewind, Jump Back, 40 Licks, Grrrr.....etc, and the only one I've kept is More Hot Rocks, as I now have the "4 New Licks" EP which contains all the new stuff from 40 Licks and both the Doom and Gloom mixes and One More Shot from iTunes making Grrrr equally useless to me.

I'm definitely curious to see what happens with the Bremen release, with it's apparent inclusion of Chicago '97 stuff as a bonus (?), which seems odd as I would think such a bonus would be packaged with the upcoming St. Louis '97 release, but such as it is, still very interesting.

Meanwhile, I'm excited to see the restored, remastered RnR Circus in the theater on 4/1/19!! Sights and sounds to delight your eyes and ears.

I´m kinda excited about the deluxe edition´s live part. Wonder if this is only on vinyl or also a CD/digibook?

"Streets Of Love" and "Out Of Tears" might be the worst ending to any greatest hits compilation ever.

Hmm, I'm confused about who is going to buy this. Some people say/think this isn't aimed at the diehards. But on the other hand I'm told that the new generation doesn't buy physical releases, only downloads. So who's going to buy it?
